Over the years, Nike developed various technologies that enhance the performance of its shoes. One of these features is Flywire, a thin cable that integrates with the eyelets to create a snug fit. The Retaliation TR is just one of the numerous models that employ such a signature design.
The Nike Retaliation TR uses an exposed midsole. This foam material is designed to withstand the wear and tear associated with daily training.
A rubber compound protects the high-wear areas such as the heel, the perimeter of the midfoot, and the toe box. It features small, densely placed, triangular nubs that provide traction on most types of surfaces. It extends to the toe tip to give protection and grip during the toe-off.
This Nike trainer employs a dual-density foam midsole. The firm foam makes the underfoot platform more stable. It extends to the lateral side of the midfoot, acting as an outrigger that delivers support during side-to-side movements. The soft foam absorbs shock during impact and offers a comfortable bed for the foot. The foam is lightweight, abrasion-resistant and resilient.
The Nike Retaliation TR utilizes a mesh upper that is lightweight and breathable. It has enough softness to allow flexibility while still maintaining some rigidity to support the foot.
It features a lace-up closure to prevent the foot from slipping out while in use. Round laces secure the lightly padded tongue which adds a layer of comfort to the top of the foot.
The Flywire cables integrate with the three lateral eyelets on the midfoot. This structure aims to enhance lateral support and to secure the midfoot area.
The collar is lightly padded to prevent the chafing of the Achilles. It also locks the foot down and keeps it from accidentally slipping out while in motion.
There are printed synthetic overlays on the big toe area, the eyelets, parts of the midfoot, and the back of the heel. This thin coat has the goal of protecting the mesh material from abrasion.
This shoe makes use of a heel counter that anchors the heel to the midsole unit. This structure cups the back of the foot and supports, bringing a locked-down feel.
