Nike Air Force 1 Flax History

The Nike Air Force 1 was launched in the early 80s giving tribute to the aircraft that carries the president of the United States. It was campaigned as the “Air in the Box” because it features the Nike Air technology found in the heel to provide cushioning and support.

The designer Bruce Kilgore took some DNA from the Nike hiking boots and re-engineered it to be suitable on the hard court. The shaft has been slanted to provide more flexibility, and the traction has been restructured to provide better grip on the hard courts.

In 1984, the AF1 took a two-year break from the limelight and returned as the dominating model in the market.  To date, there are almost 2,000 adaptations of the Air Force 1 and Nike still keeps on launching variations every season. The AF1 has been considered as the most publicized sneaker of all time and has been on the bestsellers list, consistently.

The Nike Air Force 1 Flax was released in 2017. It features the classic Air Force 1 High elements with flax-covered Nubuck upper. This all-Wheat classic kick features a hiking-boot inspired design reminiscent of the Timberland hiking boots without the lugged rubber outsole.

Nike Air Force 1 Flax Style

The high-top Nike Air Force 1 Flax features a fall-friendly design. It stays authentic to the AF1 silhouette and features an upper covered with Flax suede sitting atop a rubber gum sole to enhance the lifestyle appeal. This boot-inspired kick comes with small green branding to add accent to the monotone theme of this shoe.

Most wearers can be spotted sporting this with jeans, joggers, skinnies or even shorts. Some women, meanwhile, choose to don this boot-like sneaker with leggings, shorts, skirts and even dresses. Some wearers style this model with strap fastened while some just let the band hang on the sides.

Fit & Sizing

The Nike Air Force 1 Flax is available in both men and women sizes. Men can choose from sizes 4 to 13 while women have sizes 3 to 12 US both in medium width. It features the traditional lace-up closure with tonal laces and adjustable ankle strap for a secure fit. The Air Force 1 Flax generally runs true to size.

Notable Features

Many buyers find the Flax leather upper very appealing as it reminds them of the popular Timberland boots for the trail hikes. This shoe features a light brown colorway with a retro silhouette. It also features the gum rubber sole with ripple pattern and pivot point that serve as AF1 signature outsole design.
