Nike SB Bruin Hyperfeel History

It is a common occurrence for a sneaker silhouette to undergo a crossover from one sport to another. In 1972, Nike Bruin was first released as a basketball silhouette. Not long after, it has undergone several revamps and became interchangeable between the court and the skate parks, and later on tagged under the Nike SB.

The iconic Nike Bruin first became popular as it was worn by one of the stars in the classic film “Back to the Future”.  The simple silhouette, full grain white leather upper, integrated zoom air units, autoclaved outsole and the Nike Swoosh in cobalt red helped this pair turn into an instant hit.

This iconic pair was re-launched as the NikeLab Bruin Leather and the Nike SB Bruin. The Bruin Leather bears the exact profile of the original except for the cupsole. The Swoosh was able to release various adaptations of the Bruin Leather using diverse materials and colorways.

In 2016, the Nike SB Bruin Hyperfeel was released carrying the same profile of the classic Bruin. It bears the Hyperfeel Technology that can also be seen in the Nike SB Eric Koston 3. This Hyperfeel Technology is incorporated in the sole to deliver flexibility, better board feel and high impact protection.
