The thing I really like most about the shoe is that is has like a good amount of cushioning with that EnergyCell style foam. It seems to absorb a lot of shock.

- Probably, if there is a brand that comes to mind when we think of mountains, impossible challenges, and pure trail, it is Salomon. That is why the new Salomon Trailster incorporates the Contagrip outsole which provides exceptional traction on the trail. This Wet Traction Contagrip sole is made from smooth and resistant rubber that offers exceptional traction and support for running on wet surfaces.

- The shoe's midsole incorporates another compound that we see in the top of the range, the EnergyCell+  foam that will give users energy from the impact to use it in the takeoff and also provide a uniform and cushioned footprint. This injected EVA insole with EnergyCell+ technology offers maximum cushioning to the feet for all-day comfort.

- The Trailster's midsole is also enhanced with another reliable Salomon technology, the Sensifit system which locks in the foot perfectly, offering a secure and snug fit. And for the proper fit management of the shoe, the Sensifit provides the precise adjustment that the foot requires from the midsole to the laces.

- Finally, the shoe's upper is where there is an even more noticeable change. Unlike the updates to other Salomon shoes, the Trailster does not incorporate the classic QuickLace lacing, but instead, it uses the traditional lacing system with flat laces. The upper also has a series of lateral reinforcements to provide stability and a more reinforced feeling on the feet.

The Salomon Trailster comes in the usual standard sizes and width for runners. It comes in standard D - medium for men and B - medium for women. Although when buying online, potential buyers are encouraged to order a half size up than their usual shoe sizes.  It is also a good idea to visit one's local running shop or sports shoe retailers if there are any, to make sure that one gets the right fitting running shoe.

Designed for different types of terrains, the Salomon Trailster uses the Contagrip rubber lug outsole.  From concrete roads to uneven and rocky terrains, wet to dry surface, these Trailster offers great traction and allow any runner to tackle new challenges with confidence. Providing reliable grip on a wide range of surfaces and in different weather conditions.

These Contagrip® outsoles are a mixture of different compounds with various densities or thickness. This basically means that different areas of the outsole are softer or harder, depending on where they are located. The areas that are prone to wearing out faster have harder-wearing high-density compounds like the edge of the shoe's outsole. Other areas use the lower density compounds, which offers more flexibility and grip like the central column area of the outsole. It also guarantees that the Contagrip MD outsoles with lug patterns provide the premium traction needed on either hard or soft surfaces, creating an incredibly versatile fitness experience.

The Salomon Trailster has the EnergyCell technology in the midsole, which is engineered to give incredible energy return.  It is also designed to reduce fatigue by dampening vibrations and displacing shock in high-impact zones the EnergyCell technology in the shoes provides the ability to push oneself to new heights and distances. The premium EVA foam in the EnergyCell midsole also offers shock attenuation to preserve the feet and keep them feeling fresh.

The shoe also features the SensiFit. The SensiFit holds the foot in place from the midsole to the shoe's lacing system. This helps in providing a secure, snug, and virtually customized fit all around the foot.

Just like the popular Salomon Sense Ride 2, the Trailster uses the molded EVA Ortholite found in the footbed which offers exceptional cushioning and support that is durable. This can make any runner confident in tackling any adventure comfortably every time. The  Ortholite® also provides out-of-box comfort longer than any footbed because of a particular open-cell polyurethane that retains 95% of its cushioning after the first year. It has also been designed to have an open cell structure that lets air pass through, allowing the odor and blister-causing moisture to dissipate. And as a finishing touch, the environmentally friendly biocide is added to combat microbes that might be found in a running shoe.

The Trailster’s welded upper construction fits like a glove by providing a custom fit that will help runners tackle trails with confidence. This synthetic mesh upper provides breathability and comfort while the synthetic protection over the toes and heels provides a lightweight protection from rocks and dirt on the trails without added weight.  This Salomon trail running shoe has a perfect combination of comfort, protection, and agility that will help ensure longer runs.

The shoe finishes of its upper by using a traditional lacing system which guarantees no accidental slip-ups of the shoe and allows easy adjustment for the perfect fit.
