                 The evolution of Adidas Ozweego

The original Adidas Ozweego was released in July 1996. With Adiprene cushioning in the forefoot, it was launched as a lightweight running shoe for competition and training. Since then, it has been reinterpreted countless times, featuring Nike’s proprietary tech like Torsion sole support and Adiprene cushioning.

The Adidas Ozweego 2 was released in 1997. It had a slightly updated upper, tweaking the chunked-out shoe. Yet, it retained the Adiprene cushioning in the forefoot area.

When the Ozweego 3 was launched in 1998, it set sail in a radical direction. Not only it utilized the Adiprene technology, but it added the Torsion technology in the midsole, supplying flexibility and stability.

It took the game to the next level. It retained the classic and familiar design but also added some. With a curvy proportion, it had a breathable mesh-centric construction.

The Adidas Ozweego 3 had an updated eyestay layout with the lacing loops for an enhanced fit. Leather mudguards were installed from the toe to the ankle. Positioned on the heel instead of the forefoot area was the  Adiprene+, which replaced the Adiprene.

The  Ozweego 4 was introduced in the market somewhere in 1999 and 2000. It was the zenith of the best of its predecessors. Then the Ozweego 5 was released. It flaunted an outrageous midfoot shank, reminiscing the Adidas Climacool.

In the early 2000s, the Ozweego Millenium was launched. It set new standards for chunky shoes. It had a silver color, adding a sci-fi quality to the growing collection of footwear. The nameplate vanishes until Raf Simons resurrected the shoe. He is a European fashion designer who joined Adidas in 2013.

  • It has a TPU heel pull tab for easy wear.
