Adidas Flashback History

Adolf Dassler, an avid soccer player, invented shoes with spikes for track and field in the 1920. Four years later, together with his brother, he established a shoe business and named it Gebruder Dassler OHG. They began to achieve recognition globally during the 1928 Olympics because of their spiked shoes.

1948 was not a good year for the Dassler brothers. Because of politics, war and their wives, the brothers separated. Adi registered his company as Adidas, while his brother set up another company across the river and registered it as Puma.

Adi Dassler continued to develop training shoes made from the surplus tent canvas and fuel tank rubber after the lean war years.  In 1949, he used the 3-stripe side strips to give support to the running shoe industry.

Adi Dassler was known as the father of the modern running shoe. He particularly hand forged shoes that were specifically designed for certain running distances. It was the first in the world that a shoe was precisely conceived for sprinters and for long-distance runners. In the 1969 Olympics, Jesse Owens won 4 gold medals wearing the Adidas’ track shoes. That event further propelled the fame of the Adidas all around the world.

In 1978, Dassler was able to patent over 700 athletics products before his death. These patented products became the almost unlimited source for future Adidas designs.

Adidas formed the Adidas Originals in 1991 as its sub-brand and is also known as the Heritage Line. This sub-brand was launched with the slogan “Once Innovative, Now Classic, Always Authentic.” It aims to showcase the 30 years of sports heritage in a modern way. They restore the cutting-edge performance shoe to stylish lifestyle footwear. The Originals reinterpret the classic designs to create premium fashionable products. In 2008, Adidas Originals held a massive campaign to promote the label.

The Adidas Originals revived the silhouette of a handful of 70s running sneaker. One of this turned out to be the Adidas Flashback. The shoe gets a modern makeover and dressed with breathable and light mesh upper. Adidas laid suede on the upper to add swag and style. The thick midsole and the serrated sole, in addition, give a street savvy visual statement.

Adidas Flashback Style

The Adidas Flashback brings the running style of the 70s for today’s street-ready vibe. Adidas used a breathable mesh upper for the wearers’ comfort for all-day use. The suede overlays on the toe and on the heel add modern style to this sneaker. Adidas FB undoubtedly blends retro style with modern technology to keep up with the current lifestyle. Wearers rock this pair with jeans, joggers or even shorts with their favorite tees. Ladies sometimes sport this sneaker with their dress for a cutting-edge fashion. Certainly, old school fashion never goes out of style.

Fit & Sizing

The Adidas Flashback has a lace-up closure system to provide a secure fit to the wearers. It has a low-cut profile that allows the wearer to maximize the range of motion for a free movement. The collar and the tongue are slightly padded to keep the slim silhouette and to add some comfort.  A projected heel collar acts as the pull tab to aid the wearers in putting this on. The Adidas Flashback runs true to size and is available in medium width. Adidas offers this in men’s sizes from 3.5 to 14 US. Women’s sizes are also available from 5 to 11 US.

Notable Features

Most of the buyers noted about the classic 70s running kick look of the Adidas Flashback. The majority of the buyers praised the revolutionized retro look. Another notable feature is the serrated rubber outsole. This gives a strong assertion of the running heritage of this sneaker. The gum outsole of the Adidas Flashback provides a nice grip, thus making it a good pair on almost any kind of surface.
