6 reasons to buy

  • Waterproof: Most runners admire the Brooks Ghost 13 GTX because it keeps the feet dry even when running through deep puddles.
  • Traction: Many testers appreciate the grippy outsole of the Ghost 13 GTX that works well on wet surfaces and light trails.
  • Breathability: According to some users, this Brooks waterproof shoe is surprisingly breathable even on warm days.
  • Toebox: Those who prefer extra space in the toe area are happy with the shoe's roomy toebox.
  • Comfort: Several runners mention that the shoe offers a comfortable underfoot cushioning for long walks and daily runs.
  • Versatility: Aside from running, a few users wear the Ghost 13 GTX on casual walks and have no issues about it.

3 reasons not to buy

  • Upper: Several runners notice that the upper feels stiffer than the non-waterproof version.
  • Responsiveness: Some testers mention that the DNA Loft offers a soft underfoot feel, but it lacks bounce.
  • Laces: A few users express annoyance over the laces that always come untied.

Bottom line

The Brooks Ghost 13 GTX features a waterproof upper without compromising breathability. It keeps the feet sweat-free on warm days, and dry in wet, rainy conditions. Because of the GTX Invisible Fit material, the upper feels stiffer than the non-waterproof Ghost 13, but it continues to deliver a secure and comfortable fit.

With a durable and grippy outsole, this Brooks running shoe will give you confidence while running on paved surfaces, puddles, and light trails.

The Ghost 13 GTX is a daily trainer that offers soft cushioning but lacks responsiveness. Runners looking for a soft and bouncy midsole may consider the Brooks Glycerin model.

Brooks Ghost 13 GTX: Waterproof protection, Smoother transition

The Brooks Ghost 13 GTX features an improved upper and midsole. Just like its predecessor, it has a reliable waterproof coverage but with the Invisible Fit construction, the upper coverage is more flexible, comfortable, and lighter.

The improved midsole cushions the feet, from the heel to the forefoot. Aside from the luxurious, soft cushioning, this midsole upgrade encourages a better transition.

What is it for? The Brooks Ghost 13 GTX is suitable for dry and wet surfaces. It is specifically made for the roads but with waterproof coverage, grippy outsole, and sturdy construction, this waterproof running shoe can survive light trails and puddles.

Ghost 13 GTX vs Ghost 12 GTX: What's new?

  • GTX Invisible Fit - This waterproof membrane offers a lighter and more comfortable fit than the regular GTX construction, which was used in the previous version. With the Invisible Fit, the GTX material is bonded directly to the upper; thus, giving the feet stitch-free coverage.
  • Full-length DNA Loft midsole - In the previous model, the DNA Loft is placed in the heel section. With the Ghost 13 GTX, the soft DNA Loft extends from the heel to the forefoot, for a smoother heel to toe transition.
