Who should buy the Astral Filipe
Hikers who have sandals listed at the top of their to-bring list had better pay attention to what the Astral Filipe has to offer. It is a solid option if you:
- Prefer a hiking sandal that provides quality comfort and performance whether on trails or city pavements.
- Prefer a hiking sandal that has a removable ankle strap that, when taken out, transforms the lightweight sandal into a flip-flop.
- Prefer a hiking sandal that makes adventuring over rough terrain comfortable and secure.
Offers adequate sticking power
For surface traction, Astral designers equipped the Filipe with a company-exclusive outsole. Based on the G.15 compound, this non-marking component offers adequate sticking power with the help of its blocky protrusions (a.k.a lugs).
Excellent grip on wet surfaces
It also went through siping, allowing it to deliver grip on wet surfaces.
Absorbs shock and provides stability on the trail
This hiker provides shock mitigation on impact and ample stability on the trail with its dual-density midsole made of ethylene-vinyl acetate.
Comfortable underfoot
It is coupled with a non-removable footbed, built with G.15 rubber pods for extra comfort underfoot.
Simplistic yet sturdy upper
Synthetic leather constitutes most of Filipe’s simplistic yet sturdy upper. Its moisture-wicking underside, or liner, is made entirely of knit fabric. The sandal’s toe post, on the other hand, is crafted using nylon webbing.
Provides reflector for visibility
For visibility, especially during nighttime adventures, Astral engineers furnished the front end of the main strap with a star-shaped reflector.
Adjustable and removable ankle strap
The footgear’s ankle strap, which is both adjustable and removable, is made of polyester webbing (at 15 mm thick). This accessory comes with a hardy ladder lock buckle which is made of a compound called acetal.
Additional Info
- The Filipe is among Astral’s lineup of vegan hiking sandals. This means no animal substance was used in its production.
