Updates to Nike Flex RN 2018

  • The Nike Flex RN 2018 features a few updates in the upper and in the outer sole. The improvements aim to deliver a responsive and flexible ride without affecting the fit and the breathability of the upper.
  • A circular-knit material has been used in this version to replace the engineered mesh found in the upper of the Flex RN 2017. The circular-knit construction offers flexibility without compromising breathability and comfort.
  • The outsole of the shoe has been modified as well for durability, traction, and flexibility. It uses the same rubber material but with a new placement and tread pattern.

Outsole

The outsole of the Nike Flex RN 2018 is made up of a rubber material, which is specifically placed in high wear areas. The sections of rubber tread in the forefoot and heel area offers durability and reliable traction for a wide variety of paved surfaces.

The Tri-star pattern in the outsole offers flexibility without affecting the cushioning. The grooves follow the natural movement of the foot through the gait cycle.

Midsole

In the midsole of the Nike Flex RN 2018 is the dual-density Phylon foam. This durable and lightweight midsole foam extends from the heel to the forefoot, giving the foot a reliable cushioning throughout the run. Aside from giving runners a comfortable platform, the Phylon foam also delivers a flexible, responsive ride.

Above the Phylon foam is the minimal, molded textile footbed. It gives additional underfoot cushioning, especially to areas that are not usually cushioned.

Upper

The Nike Flex RN 2018 has a circular-knit upper for maximum breathability. It is impressively stretchable, giving the foot a comfortable wrap. It allows the foot to move comfortably as it flexes in every step.

The shoe has a lightly padded tongue and collar for comfort. The synthetic overlays deliver an enhanced fit, and breathable fabric lining offers a great in-shoe feel.

Lastly, the Flex RN 2018 has a reliable lace-up closure. For an adaptive and supportive feel, the Flywire cables are attached to the laces.
