- The platform on the road shoe is Asics’ Solyte – a midsole material that’s half the weight of regular EVA foams. Despite its lightness, it delivers 20% more shock absorption, and it meets the high-performance demands of athletes and serious runners.
- On the back end of the midsole is the Rearfoot Gel Technology which complements the cushioning and shock attenuation delivered by the midsole. Runners will be able to see this component since it makes up the entire heel part on the shoe’s platform and is of a different color than the midsole.
- On the outsole is a Guidance Line that runs from the heel area towards the forefoot. This deep linear groove separates the tooling or the wavy, fluid lines on the outsole to facilitate maximum efficiency with every stride.
- This shoe was made with an Ortholite Lasting. Ortholite is a material that provides long-term comfort, anti-bacterial properties, and excellent moisture management. It keeps the inside environment of the shoe dry and ideal.
The Asics Gel Keynun MX comes in standard running shoe sizes. Runners who wish to procure a pair can make use of their usual running shoe measurements. The same goes for this shoe’s width. It is available in medium measurements – B – medium and D – medium for women and men respectively.
The outsole was manufactured with solid rubber that can take the usual beating received by road running shoes while going over pavement or other common surfaces. The material also adds durability, protecting the bottom from wear and tear and improving the shelf life of the shoe.
The tread pattern is composed of wavy tooling that covers the entire outsole. The same design can also be observed on the midsole. These horizontal waves allow the shoe to move freely, preventing the runner from feeling restricted and limited. Dividing these lines is a Guidance Line that runs vertically from the heel going to the forefoot. It helps to transfer the load throughout the running cycle, so the runner goes through each phase smoothly. The result is a run that’s more efficient.
The midsole was created with the Solyte material. This material is also used in the popular Asics Gel Cumulus 20 and it is lighter than standards EVA and Asics SpEVA foams, without losing all the other great properties. Solyte is bouncier, and it provides better underfoot cushioning. It also attenuates shock more effectively and can deliver sufficient energy return.
The Rearfoot Gel Technology System on the heel part of the midsole cushions the impact received by the runner upon landing. Next, it facilitates a smoother transition from the initial contact phase to midstance. Comfort-wise, the gel delivers a cushioned feel under the heel.
The upper was made with seamless construction. This feature significantly reduces the potential of skin irritation caused by traditional seams and stitches. Because the upper looks smooth and streamline, it gives the shoe a more updated and current feel.
The textile on this part of the shoe is a breathable mesh that easily allows air to pass through. With this material in place, hot spots are reduced, permitting the runner to feel more comfortable while running in hot weather. It also allows the foot to aerate, keeping the inside environment dry and ideal.
The only overlay on the upper is the Asics signature lines which are on both sides of the shoe. It gives a bit of structure to the upper, slightly reinforcing it, and it adds overall aesthetic value.
The Asics Gel Kenun MX is equipped with a traditional lace-up closure. The base of the laces has been reinforced with a thin film. This makes the lace holes sturdier, lessening the chances of the holes ripping when the laces are tightened.
The shoe was made with an Ortholite lasting. Commonly, the Ortholite material comes in the form of insoles. In this case, however, the material was made into a lining. It fights off bacteria that causes foot odor, and it easily absorbs foot sweat. Also, it enhances the comfort felt from within the shoe.
As an extra layer of cushioning, ComforDry was added. This insert is breathable and has anti-microbial properties. It keeps the foot cool, dry, and healthier even during long runs. This component complements the Ortholite Lasting, delivering similar benefits.
