- The Saucony Echelon 6 is a road shoe that’s designed for neutral pronators. It moves away from the oversaturated façade of its immediate predecessor, the Echelon 5, and adopts a more seamless construction.
- The Sauc-Fit technology, an overlay system, is now made up of thin and lightweight materials that are fused directly to the upper, instead of being stitched onto it. The mesh still has an open structure, but the ventilation pores are smaller than the previous version, therefore ensuring breathability and protection against little debris on the road.
- New to the Echelon 6 is the addition of the EVERUN. It is a cushioning unit that is placed above the chief midsole foam. It helps in carrying the foot responsibly throughout the running session while also attenuating shock generated with each step.
The Saucony Echelon 6 employs a standard running shoe length. It accommodates the preferences of runners concerning the sizing scheme. These are the available widths: The men’s version offers D - Medium, 2E - Wide, and 4E - Extra Wide, while the women’s version has B - Medium, and D- Wide.
XT-900 is a durable component that’s made of carbon rubber. Located in the heel section of the Saucony Echelon 6, it offers traction and protection against wear and tear.
IBR+ is a soft rubber compound that’s placed in the forefoot section. Because it’s soft and springy, it can provide additional cushioning and responsiveness to the toe-off phase of the gait cycle. This is also present in the Echelon 7 running shoe.
The Tri-Flex is an outsole design that allows full ground contact during each step. It is also made up of flex grooves, which encourage the inherent flexibility of the human foot, especially when lifting off the ground.
The SSL EVA or the Saucony SuperLite EVA is a full-length foam unit that serves as the primary midsole of the Saucony Echelon 6. It is soft and responsive, ensuring cushioning throughout the activity. Its lightweight nature accommodates sure and speedy steps.
On top of the main midsole is a 3mm EVERUN topsole. It adds a bit more cushioning while also protecting against the impact forces.
A 6mm Polyurethane Sockliner further delivers cushioning to the foot. It can be removed or replaced with custom orthotics.
Open Mesh is a lightweight fabric that accommodates air into the foot-chamber. Its ventilation pores are smaller than the ones from the previous iteration, fundamentally ensuring breathability and shielding from road debris.
The Sauc-Fit is a system of overlays that reinforce the main upper fabrics. Instead of using thick materials and stitching, Saucony utilized a thin element that’s directly printed onto the mesh and linked to the lacing system. These overlays adjust the fit to go in line with the preference of the wearer.
The RUNDRY Collar Lining holds the heel in place. It staves off moisture, as well.
An external support frame in the heel area prevents in-shoe wobbling and accidental shoe-removals.
The Foundation Platform involves the use of a straighter last that allows feet with wide volumes to feel secure in the foot-chamber. Because the last isn’t shaped like a foot, most custom orthotics can fit into the shoe, thus allowing runners the flexibility to customize the support that they need.
