Good to know

  • Salomon X Ultra Winter CS WP 2 combines powerful snowshoe technologies to make hiking in extremely cold environments a breeze. They include the ClimaSalomon™, waterproof lining, thin yet powerful insulation, and Contagrip® outsoles.
  • It retains all the notable features of the earlier version along with new ones like the molded heel pads, gaiter hooks, and an advanced chassis molded shank.

The high top Ultra Winter ClimaShield Waterproof 2 from Salomon is constructed using full-grain leather which means it adjusts to the shape of the foot after some breaking in. It features a standard fit, along with a traditional lacing system with locking eyelets. This boot also uses the SensiFit™ technology which works by cradling the foot from the midsole to the lacing system for a snug, custom fit.

This premium winter hiker makes use of Salomon Contagrip technology - a highly durable outsole that provides great traction, stability, and grip on uneven terrain.

Contragrip soles combine different compounds with different densities. This means that some parts of the outsole are soft while others are hard. Areas that are prone to damage have hard-wearing high-density compounds for extra durability while the rest use lower-density compounds for added grip and flexibility.

Salomon X Ultra Winter CS WP 2 has aggressive 6mm lugs which make the boot well-suited for wet and icy terrains. The outsole has the ability to retain adhesion in freezing temperatures. Its geometry is designed to cut the mud while the chevron patterns keep the shoe in place on rugged surfaces.

Connecting the midsole and outsole is a low-profile Advanced Chassis. It works by maximizing security, motion control, and energy management. The midsole is made using EVA foam which does a great job in absorbing shock and enhancing foot flexibility.

For added cushioning, the X Ultra Winter CS WP 2 comes with an OrthoLite® insole. It has an open-cell structure that helps drive moisture away from the foot, keeping it dry and comfortable.

The shoe upper is constructed using full-grain leather - one of the most durable materials used for hiking boots today. Leather conforms to the feet, giving the wearer a custom fit. It also features waterproof materials that keep the insides of the shoe dry even when under pressure. To allow some breathability on the trail, the Salomon X Ultra Winter CS WP 2 also incorporates mesh and textile lining.

For the insulation, this snowshoe contains 200 grams of Thinsulate™ and faux fur lining that is incredibly warm and cozy.

Completing the shoe is a gusseted tongue that keeps debris out, a protective piece of rubber over the toe area, and lace locker for easy adjustment.
