Profile of the Reebok Flashfilm Trainer

The Flashfilm Trainer is based on Reebok’s Flashfilm running shoe, which makes it easy to mix the two. However, the Trainer version has several construction differences that gear it more towards workouts:

  • Increased forefoot and heel traction for rapid movements
  • Added heel outrigger and lateral side panel for stability
  • Durable Flexweave upper for stronger resistance to abrasion

What is it for? This model is designed with high-intensity training in mind. It offers ample cushioning and stability for speed training, cardio workouts, and sprints. Light-to-moderate weightlifting is also possible.

The sole is protected by a full-length rubber outsole. This material is durable enough to withstand both indoor and outdoor surfaces.

To accommodate quick stop-and-start moves, the rubber is lined in the toe and heel areas. It enhances traction and prevents slippage.

The outsole rubber also covers up the front of the toe box. It helps to protect the wearer from painful bumps.

Wearers can expect lightweight and responsive cushioning with the Flashfilm polyurethane midsole. Inherited from a running shoe, it delivers impact protection from heel to toe. An EVA sockliner is placed inside the shoe. It also adds a tinge of cushioning for extra comfort.

To make sure the foot stays stable during side-to-side movements, a rubber panel is attached on the lateral side. As for the heel stability, it is enhanced by a midsole outrigger at the back.

The Reebok Flashfilm Trainer employs a stretchy mesh upper with a bootie-like collar. It is meant to make the shoe more close-fitting.

To reinforce the durability aspect, the brand puts its proprietary Flexweave fabric around the trainer’s heel and sides. This fabric is extremely lightweight and yet has a reputation of a heavy-duty material. It can also be seen on Reebok’s top CrossFit shoes

The shoe is designed to provide plenty of air for the foot. The ventilation is achieved through the wide pores in the mesh and Flexweve.

Nice to know

A fabric stripe attached to the inner side of the tongue says “JJ Watt approved.” In fact, the shoe has been tested by the NFL star himself and has joined the collection of Reebok trainers released in collaboration with Watt.
