  • The Mizuno Wave Prophecy 9 is a stylish road running shoe designed to push the runner to go further than ever before. This shoe features an updated upper with an attractive 3D design, giving more comfort and support compared to its previous versions.
  • For excellent shock absorption, this running shoe still features the Infinity Wave technology. These cushioning materials are placed in the heel and forefoot sections, aiming to deliver a unique running sensation. The Infinite Wave and U4ic midsole are working together to provide long-lasting comfort and responsiveness.
  • AIRmesh technology is also used in the shoe for superior comfort and breathability. It is designed to keep the foot dry and cool throughout the running session.

Size and fit

The Mizuno Wave Prophecy 9 uses the standard sizing measurement to accommodate the usual expectations of consumers. However, it is recommended to try the shoe in-store to ensure a more comfortable fit. Consumers may also check the general feedback about sizing before purchasing a pair of shoes.

Several factors affect the fit of the shoe, including the lacing system that aims to provide a secure and customized fit every time. Other elements include the padded tongue and sockliner, which are added to give a snugger in-shoe feel.

X10 technology is incorporated in the outsole of the Mizuno Wave Prophecy 9. X10 is made out of a highly durable carbon rubber. These materials are positioned in the high impact areas, protecting the platform from tear and wear. The X10 rubber is also featured in other popular Mizuno running shoes, such as the Mizuno Wave Creation 20 and Mizuno Wave Prophecy 8.

Completing the rubber outsole is a strategic flex groove pattern, delivering added flexibility. The flex grooves also enhance the shoe’s grip on various surfaces.

A unique midsole compound called U4ic is utilized in the shoe. This lightweight midsole material offers excellent cushioning, keeping the foot comfortable during the entire running session.

The Infinity Wave plate is featured in the Mizuno Wave Prophecy 9 to enhance the shoe’s cushioning performance. The Infinity Wave is a durable material that absorbs and disperses the impact at foot strike.

SmoothRide technology is also integrated into the shoe. This element is responsible for providing a smooth-running sensation. It minimizes the rapid acceleration and deceleration of the foot during transition.

A cushioned sockliner is included to provide a high level of comfort, mile after mile. This component also offers added underfoot protection and support.

The Mizuno Wave Prophecy 9 utilizes the AIRmesh material for superior breathability. This lightweight material allows for continuous airflow to keep the foot dry during the entire running session. It also provides a comfortable in-shoe wrap and reliable protection against the elements.

The shoe has a padded tongue that gives additional comfort. It also keeps the small rocks and debris from getting inside the shoe.

For a secure and snug fit, the traditional lacing system is used in the shoe. The shoelaces allow the runner to easily adjust the looseness and tightness around the shoe for a more personalized fit.

Mizuno Wave Prophecy 9 compared to Mizuno Wave Inspire 15

The Mizuno Wave Inspire 15 and Mizuno Wave Prophecy 9 are road running shoes designed for running on paved surfaces. These shoes feature the X10 outsole for maximum grip, protection, and durability. Both of these shoes are also created with a 12 mm drop.

Just like the Wave Prophecy 9, the Wave Inspire 15 incorporates the SmoothRide and Wave plate technology into its midsole. These components equipped the shoe to deliver excellent shock absorption and responsiveness, providing a more comfortable and natural running experience.

Mesh fabric is used in the upper units of the Wave Inspire 15 and Wave Prophecy 9 for breathable coverage. The traditional lace-up closure is also incorporated in these shoes to secure the foot comfortably without being too restrictive.

The Wave Prophecy 9 is a neutral running shoe that works best for mild pronators or people with neutral gaits. The Wave Inspire 15, on the other hand, is a stability running shoe, which is designed to provide support for runners and athletes who exhibit mild to moderate overpronation.

When it comes to weight, the Wave Inspire 15 is lighter compared to the Wave Inspire 15. Another obvious difference between these running shoes is the sole design. The Wave Prophecy 9 features a more stylish and modern sole design, compared to the Wave Inspire 15.
