Nike Air Max 94 History

The Air Max series of Nike compose of both popular silhouettes and those that have been left almost forgotten. Among these models is the Nike Air Max 94. In 2015, Nike retroed the Nike Air Max 94 in which at least two of the OG colorways of the sneaker were first displayed in its release.

The Nike Air Max 94 exhibits an upper construction with a mesh base and overlays in nubuck material with a neoprene tongue. The first two colorways released both feature the white sports mesh with gray overlays and hints of blue.

Another colorway then followed the first release of the Nike Air Max 94. A white base with black and gray overlays dress the upper of the sneaker, complemented with hints of neon on the tongue. The Nike Air Max unit finishes off the design of the shoe.

The next colorway iteration for the Nike Air Max 94 displays a color combination that looks as if it was inspired by the Nike Air Max 90 “OG Infrared” colorway. The mesh and nubuck upper construction of the silhouette is complemented with the Air Max unit which is only visible on the heel of the shoe.

By the Fall of 2015, three new colorways for the Nike Air Max 94 were introduced. The sneaker comes in an all-blue pair, a combination of gray, black, and red colorway, and the third one is a black and white combo.

The brand also jumped into the collab wagon in the Fall of 2015 as it teamed up with size?, and gave the Nike Air Max 94 another fresh look for their size? x Nike Air Max 94 Pack. Two colorways came out from the collaboration, and the sneakers feature a soft suede upper with mesh materials on its side panels and toebox. One of the silhouettes flaunts a tonal gray colorway while the other went for a tan upper. Both of the shoes have hints of black on their tongue, lining, and their laces. Speckled details are displayed on its black midsoles which are built with a 180-degree Air Max cushioning.

In December of 2015, Nike dropped the Nike Air Max 94 Obsidian. The sneaker exhibits a tonal appearance of an all-blue aesthetic on its nubuck, suede, and mesh upper construction. The Nike Swoosh for branding adorns the side panels while the tongue Air Max branding is displayed in a Soar Blue shade. The black sole unit that shows off the visible air max unit on its heels completes the whole look of the sneaker.

In 2016, to start off the New Year, Nike gave a fresh look for the Air Max 94. A combination of light bone and night maroon graces the upper construction of mesh base and suede overlays of the silhouette with the plum color on its leather mudguard. The inner lining and the branding of the shoe also flaunted the plum color.

Following the release of the Night Maroon version of the Air Max94, Nike then introduced two more variations of the sneaker. Featuring either leather or suede upper construction, both of the silhouettes display an all-black colorway. The difference between the two iterations is that one of them exhibits a Wolf Gray bottom while the other one shows a gum bottom.

In 2018, the AM 94 made another come back with a new colorway. A color combination of Wolf Gray and Bright Crimson decorates the upper structure of a mixture of suede, nubuck, and mesh. By August of 2018, another look for the Nike Air Max 94 was released. The premium colorway for the silhouette comes in a blend of alligator/croc skin materials for its overlays. Its mudguard sports textured leather while its Swoosh branding is made of light brown hair suede. A white midsole with the Air Max cushioning at its heel and a black outsole completes the look of the sneaker.

For the latest release of the AM94 in September 2018, the sneaker flaunts a combination of Wolf Grey, Cool Grey, and Black-Volt. This pair is an update to the 2015 release of the sneaker and the structure of the shoe features mesh and nubuck with some leather overlays.
