Size and fit

Fit & Sizing

The Air Force 1 Utility is among Nike’s casual shoes that are available in men’s sizes. Ladies can still get their hands on it by selecting a size that’s 1.5 smaller than their usual size. So, if they usually get a US size 8 in women’s, then a size 6.5 in men’s would fit perfectly. It fits true to size.

This sneaker swaps the traditional lace-up closure for ballistic nylon straps with magnetic buckles for closure. The buckle provides easier on and off while the chunky straps could be adjusted for a snug and comfortable fit.

Nike Air Force 1 Utility Style

This Nike Air Force 1 model displays a unique urban utility aesthetic that’s both stylish and functional. Design details not commonly seen in AF1 sneakers such as straps, buckles, and extended tongue and heel tab provide eye-catching elements to the shoe and your overall ensemble. Pair it with utility pants and a band tee for that sporty street look or flaunt these kicks by matching it with cargo shorts.

Notable Features

This model's most visible and notable differences are its straps and buckle closure, extended tongue, and longer heel pull tab. Its tongue is also fully padded which most consumers found ultra-comfy. The shoe's heel pull tab features a D-ring for easier grip. Finally, it retains its lineage's Air-Sole unit for excellent impact protection.

Nike Air Force 1 Utility History

Taking inspiration from the US presidential plane for its official name, the Swoosh brand introduced the Air Force 1 sneaker in 1982. Nike marketed the shoe as the "Air in the box," as it features the Air technology – the first basketball kick to ever feature this tech.

Legendary Nike designer Bruce Kilgore curated the Air Force 1 and took design cues from a previous hiking cleat silhouette. It became such a hot commodity among sneaker fans of the 80s and started the "colorway" phenomenon. However as with customary practice before the AF1 was shelved after two years in production. But with insistent public demand, Nike reissued the shoe after two years in the archives and has since been an unstoppable force in Nike's lineup.

The Swoosh brand has been dishing out countless iterations of the AF1, and one of them is the Nike Air Force 1 Utility. This adaptation of the classic kick displays exaggerated and extended features for a unique and modern touch. It is offered in Sequoia / gum medium brown / black, spruce fog / volt / light bone / black, black / gum medium brown / white, and volt / black /white.

However, the most popular colorways of the Nike Air Force 1 Utility are black, olive green, and white.

Additional Info

  • Some of the colorways have glow-in-the-dark outsoles.
  • A collaborative AF1 Utility created with workwear brand Carhartt is also available in the market. It displays a camo-printed upper with a gum sole and orange-colored accents.
