Summary

We spent 8.6 hours reading reviews from experts and users. In summary, this is what basketball players think:

5 reasons to buy

  • A good number of commenters are satisfied with their Air Jordan 2012 Lite. They simply love this basketball shoe.
  • The AJ 2012 Lite feels light around the feet, a couple of players note. Users have the same praise for the first Air Jordan.
  • Most reviewers declare that this shoe is very comfortable. One even says that these are more comfortable than the regular Air Jordan 2012.
  • A tester claims that the midsole disperses impact evenly.
  • A reviewer asserts that the outsole is very grippy. Its segmented design makes it easier to move around the court.

4 reasons not to buy

  • According to several commenters, these Air Jordan basketball shoes are ugly.
  • The heel lockdown is not very tight, a reviewer observes. The shoe’s Achilles notch barely does anything.
  • Like the 16th LeBron basketball shoe, at least one player claims that the cushioning is quite thick.
  • A user asserts that the Air Jordan 2012 Lite is not suited for post players. Ankle support is minimal because of the lack of padding.

Bottom line

The cushioning is pretty consistent; offering a quick first step. The lightweight upper does a good job of containing the foot, and the outsole grips the floor well. Overall, this shoe is a decent on-court performer and may even be better than the regular AJ 2012.

What the 2012 Lite seems to be is the same shoe with refined performance. One of the small problems with the 2012 was that the midsoles were not integrated into the shoe, making the shoe clunky at times. The 2012 Lite fixes this aspect, and in turn makes for a more comfortable and aggressive shoe. Performance is still fit for the active player who likes to do multiple things on the court.

A stripped-down version of the original, the Air Jordan 2012 is one of the lightest and most responsive Air Jordans to date. It weighs in at just 11 ounces because of its lightweight upper constructed of Hyperfuse and Flywire. An injected Phylon midsole with an encapsulated Air unit delivers lightweight cushioning underfoot.

Cushion. The Air Jordan 2012 Lite is equipped with a full-length Air unit for a lightweight and responsive ride.

Traction. The segmented rubber outsole is covered with a multidirectional traction pattern that provides superior grip on the hardwood. The outsole also features flex grooves for added flexibility.

Length and Width. Reviewers warn that these Air Jordan basketball shoes run a tad long. They recommend going down half a size for a snug fit. However, if you like some wiggle room, they suggest going true to size.

Lockdown. Nike Flywire is incorporated along the shoe’s upper to provide lightweight support and containment.

These performance basketball shoes feature a translucent Hyperfuse upper that offers enhanced breathability and durability.

The Air Jordan 2012 Lite is a sleeker version of the original Air Jordan 2012. It sheds the unnecessary weight, resulting in a more explosive mid-top that plays like a low.

The Air Jordan 2012 Lite comes in a wide range of hues. Jordan Brand-sponsored schools such as Marquette, Georgetown, California, and UNC were also provided with player exclusive colorways.
