Hiring in Aveiro, Portugal: 4 job positions available!
Most people I talk to say "what... does such a place to work even exist?". And yes, here it is!
I'm Jens, founder of RunRepeat, the world's largest running and athletic shoe review site. 40 million people read our reviews every year, and have done so for 11 years now.
I'm hiring for four new full-time positions. The minimum number of days per week you must be in Aveiro, Portugal is shown in brackets. For people applying from Spain: we require that you relocate closer to the lab in Aveiro - we cover your moving costs. Portuguese is not necessary to join our team.
- Product photographer/videographer (3+ days/week)
- Tester/writer (1+ day/week)
- Biomechanical/mechanical engineer (2+ day/week)
- Partnerships/PR/SoMe/Affiliate revenue specialist (1+ days/week)
THIS is why you’ll love being part of our team
- 100% flexibility. No rules about when you work as long as you do your job. No 9 am to 6 pm. Do what works for YOU!
- We have minimal bureaucracy and high autonomy. In RunRepeat, you OWN your work. There are no deadlines, other than the ones you set yourself.
- Barely any meetings. I myself have only 1 scheduled meeting per week lasting 2 to 30 minutes.
- A yearly meetup, all paid for by RunRepeat. We typically rent a massive villa, make food together, go swimming, hike, explore local life and so on. We’ve previously been to Greece, Italy, France, Turkey, Indonesia, Thailand, The Philippines, Bulgaria, and Denmark.
Requirements to be a good fit
- You consider yourself a runner, gym-rat, avid hiker, or basketball lover or all-around sportsperson. Bottom line: you love sports.
- Full-time. It's okay if you have side gigs/projects. Also, you don't need to start full-time day one - part-time works, but your intention should be to become full-time in the long run. I recommend this for people who already have a stable job, and who don't want to jump a ship they don't feel comfortable about yet. Get to know us, then later commit.
- NICE to have: LOVE for shoes and/or indepth understanding of shoes
The open positions
The job positions can be combined. If you have interests and skills that overlap multiple positions, apply to the position you see fit best, but also mention your other skills/interests in your application.
Product photographer/videographer (3+ days/week)
- Primary tasks: Cut shoes in half, operate machines, and document everything with visuals, including custom visuals for guides, posts, and SoMe.
- Requirements: Experience with Premiere/PS/Lightroom, knowledge of photography/videography, and detail-oriented. It's an advantage to be a professional photographer, but you may also apply if you're an amateur photographer. English intermediate skills as a minimum, however in the lab, they most often speak Portuguese/Spanish.
Tester / writer (1+ day/week)
- Primary task: Test shoes, write shoe reviews, write guides
- Requirements: English written fluency (without AI), passion/knowledge about shoes/sports
Biomechanical/mechanical engineer (2+ day/week)
- Primary task: Prototype testing for brands
- Secondary tasks: test shoes, write shoe reviews, write guides
- Requirements: MSc or higher in a relevant field (or currently studying)
- Advantage, but not a requirement to have actual experience from the shoe industry
Partnerships/PR/SoMe/Affiliate revenue specialist (1+ days/week)
Chances are low that anyone will match all of these skills - I don't expect you to.
- Primary tasks: depends on your interests, so instead I'll share the intention of the different areas. Partnerships/PR are somewhat connected - it could be to work on product seeding from the brands. PR/SoMe could be to partner with the brands on different campaigns. SoMe could be strategy and execution of YT/IG and similar and collaborate with the photographers to create awesome content - focus is NOT so much about the writing of the posts as it's more visual these days - it's ideation instead. Affiliate revenue is all about adding new retailers to our site to give users more options, and negotiating good deals, and to keep track of our revenue performance with 200+ retailers.
- Requirements: English written fluency.
