Bottom line

The Nike Zoom Live 2017 is surely a gem to someone who’s looking for great on-court kicks that do not break the bank. A lot of reviewers say that this shoe is really comfortable. They continue that the outsole really grips the floor so well, supporting even the most aggressive of movements. The cherry on top will be the shoe’s good looks.

There is a mention of a break-in issue, but it’s something that time and constant wearing can easily address.

Good to know

The Nike Zoom Live 2017 is a straightforward budget-friendly offer. Its upper is made of mesh and nylon with protective fuse overlays. The midsole features the now ubiquitous Zoom Air unit embedded in a Phylon carrier. The full-length rubber outsole has a unique pattern that provides multidirectional traction.

Cushion. The midsole of the Nike Zoom Live 2017 is made of Phylon. This is Nike’s go-to cushioning material that provides a good amount of impact protection and a stable low-profile ride. At the forefoot, a rectangular Zoom Air unit is embedded. This setup is responsible for the high energy returns that fuel explosive cuts and sprints to the basket.

Traction. The bottom of the shoe is covered by a full-length rubber outsole. The pattern on it is composed of short diagonal, horizontal, and vertical lines that are arranged in various orientations to provide multidirectional support. The spaces in between the short nubs on the outsole are wide, so there is no need to worry about them getting clogged by dust.  The pattern extends up to the sides of the midsole to provide much needed traction at even the most gravity-defying angles.

Length and Width. The Nike Zoom Live 2017 is reported to be true to size. Hence, it is safe for those who want to order a pair online to go with their usual sizes. Of course, if at all possible, it is still good to try the shoes first.

It also important to note that this shoe is also able to accommodate an ankle brace.

Lockdown. This shoe has the traditional lacing system. It is reinforced by a Y-shaped strap that is anchored on two points at the lateral side and locked on the medial side. Not only does this strap keep the laces down, it also pushes the foot closer to the rear part of the shoe for a more secure fit. Speaking of the rear area, the shoe also has an internal heel counter.

Within the Zoom Live 2017’s midsole, there is a torsional shank that keeps the wearer’s ride stable and free from threats of foot twisting.

The upper of the Nike Zoom Live 2017 is made of nylon and mesh with some fuse overlays on high-wear surfaces such as the toe cap and that specific part of the upper where the laces are anchored. This combination of materials is said to hug the foot like a glove, further enhancing the support that the shoe gives.

There is not so much gimmick with the Nike Zoom Live 2017. Everything on it is straight to the point, from the ankle collar down to the outsole. The only giveaway that the Zoom Live 2017 is from Nike is the large Swoosh on the strap and the midsole. This simplicity, however, is what attracts some buyers.

This budget model from Nike is available in a few tonal hues.
