In-shoe security and foot balance are the aspects of the running experience that the Adidas Edge XT aims to address. This neutral running shoe features a breathable upper that is reinforced by a lattice of synthetic prints and close-weave fabrics. Underfoot support is given by the Bounce™ Lite and an accompanying thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) torsion bar.

Size and fit

The standard sizing schemes have become the basis of the creation of the Adidas Edge XT. These measurements allow the potential purchaser to get a pair using the preferred size option. The in-shoe experience aims to accommodate the natural curvature of the human foot because it has a semi-curved platform shape and an upper unit that contours the outline of what it’s securing.

The outsole unit of the Adidas Edge XT features a rubber compound. This layer covers the whole of the platform, shielding it from the abrasive nature of the ground. Along with its protective capacity, it has a traction-ready nature to permit surface control. It has an X-shaped hole that shows the special midsole accoutrement that delivers extra steadiness.

Hexagonal nodes provide extra traction, their edges acting like extra clamps that adhere to the ground. There are shallow grooves that make the platform slightly flexible.

Underfoot cushioning is given by the Bounce™ Lite, a full-length foam that is touted to be highly responsive to the foot and its need for springy performances. The lightweight configuration of this material allows the runner to utilize it without the fear of stiffness or being dragged down. Also, it has raised sidewalls to keep the foot centered while inside this road running shoe.

The TORSION® SYSTEM is a thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) cage that reinforces the midfoot portion of the platform. This visible foundation within the midsole foam helps to steady the foot as it stands idly or takes each step. It is not a pronation-correcting piece, but it still seeks to prevent unexpected positional deviations.

A fabric-topped insole is placed right on top of the primary cushioning system. The job of this add-on is to provide a soft surface for the underfoot to enjoy. It can be removed or replaced with a new one if the wearer wants to do so.

The upper unit of the Adidas Edge XT is made of a breathable mesh. This material hugs the foot while also allowing it to move naturally through the stride. It maintains a cool and dry wrap through ventilation holes. Breathable uppers are found in other Adidas series, including the well-received Duramo line.

A close-weave textile reinforces the main fabric, giving extra support and security.

A lattice of hot-printed overlays offers some oomph to the structural integrity and the upright position of the upper unit. They connect directly to the lacing system, permitting holistic fit-adjustment when the laces are tightened or loosened.
