Who should buy the Jordan Super.Fly MVP
The Jordan Super.Fly MVP is for you if:
- You are looking for sneakers that bite well on various court surfaces.
- You maneuver aggressively so a shoe with a snug rearfoot would be handy.
Profile
True to its name, the Jordan Super.Fly MVP draws inspiration from Michael Jordan’s MVP-winning basketball shoes. This hybrid silhouette features a mesh and suede upper. It has a full-length React foam in the midsole, and its outsole features a multidirectional tread pattern.
Performance
Cushion. These mid-top shoes feature full-length React. This setup allows for more cushioned landings, more explosive takeoffs, and ultimately a much more stable ride.
Traction. The shoe’s traction is possibly one of its strongest points. It provides multidirectional support, and it works well on different kinds of floors, especially the cleaner ones.
The rubber outsole features ripple-like patterns that come in five segments. The first three segments are on the forefoot. The other two are on the heel and midfoot. Each segment has an egg-shaped focal point, except for the midfoot segment that has two. The ripples appear to originate from these focal points.
Fit
Length and Width. In general, the Jordan Super.Fly MVP is considered true to size. However, reviewers warn that the forefoot might feel a bit tight.
Lockdown. The midsole extends up to the heel, covering a good part of it. This extension acts as an outrigger that helps keep the ankle in place, especially during the player’s aggressive on-court movements. The shoe’s dynamic lacing system has extra lace holes that make more lace adjustments possible.
Material
The upper of the Jordan Super.Fly MVP is made of breathable and figure-hugging mesh. The tongue is made of suede.
Style
2018’s Jordan Super.Fly has ‘MVP’ attached to its name because it draws inspiration from the shoes that Michael Jordan wore when he won his numerous NBA regular season MVP titles. In fact, five of the six egg-shaped focal points on the outsole pay tribute to the years he bagged the MVP honors. They display the following inscriptions:
- 88. Wearing the now iconic Air Jordan 3, Michael Jordan locked his status as an NBA legend in 1988, when he won both the regular season and All-Star Game MVP honors.
- 91. After spending seven years with the league, Michael Jordan finally was able to lead the Chicago Bulls to their first championship in 1991. For his efforts, he was awarded both the regular season and NBA Finals MVP titles. The sixth Air Jordans were his reliable partners that season.
- 92. Nike debuted the innovative Huarache in the Air Jordan 7. The decision paid off as Michael Jordan went on to win both the regular season and NBA Finals MVP titles in 1992. His triumphs elevated not only his status but also that of the Huarache name, which is now one of the most profitable innovations Nike has ever produced.
- 96. His Airness made it big in 1996 when he bagged all three NBA MVP titles. He wore the Air Jordan 11–the first shoe to feature patent leather in its upper–in many of his games. This shoe remains as one of the most influential Air Jordans of all time.
- 98. When Michael Jordan wears a shoe, it’s almost certain that the shoe is going to make history. In 1998, MJ once again bagged the MVP titles for the NBA regular season, All-Star Game, and NBA Finals.
