Good to know
- The Adidas Power Perfect 2 was designed purely for weightlifting and powerlifting exercises. Its robust and inflexible platform makes it suitable for squats, cleans, and jerks.
- The shoe came out in 2011 replacing the Adidas’ Ironwork weightlifting series. Unlike the previous versions, the Power Perfect 2 features a one-piece synthetic leather upper for more durability and a snugger fit. The Velcro strap has been placed closer to the ankle for more security.
- The heel wedge of the shoe is made of high-density EVA foam instead of the classic wood material as in the Ironwork models. This kind of EVA delivers a non-compressible platform while being a cheaper and more lightweight alternative to wood. The EVA midsole is protected from abrasion by the ADIWEAR rubber in the outsole. The heel height in this platform measures at 19 mm.
The Adidas Power Perfect 2 is offered in men’s sizes only and typically runs true to size. The shoe accommodates those with standard foot dimensions as it is available in the D – Medium width option.
The outsole unit of the Power Perfect 2 is entirely flat. This form is vital for maintaining balance and sustaining equal weight distribution when lifting weights.
The outsole utilizes the ADIWEAR rubber compound. It is claimed to deliver excellent protection against wear and tear.
The honeycomb pattern on the heel and forefoot sections ensures optimum grip on the gym floor. It also ensures a secure footing during weightlifting.
The Adidas Power Perfect 2 employs the high-density EVA foam to create a stable, non-compressible base for weightlifting. The foam is much thicker in the heel section, reaching 19 mm. The elevated heel allows for more ankle mobility, which helps athletes achieve deeper squats with a better posture.
An extra width is added in the forefoot section of the midsole to assist balance. It also eliminates foot wobbling during the lift.
The EVA platform has been carried over to the newer iteration of the trainer, the Adidas Power Perfect 3. The two models also share the same heel height.
The Power Perfect 2 makes use of a one-piece synthetic leather upper for enhanced durability and a better fit. An extra layer of leather wraps the heel, the medial and the lateral sides of the shoe. This design aims to hold the back part of the foot firmly in place.
The hook-and-loop Velcro strap is placed on top of the lacing system for a lockdown fit and a secure coverage.
The perforations throughout the shoe breathe air into the foot-chamber, keeping the foot well-ventilated. The breathability is also maximized by the air mesh material in the collar and tongue of the shoe.
