Updates to Adidas Energy Cloud 2

  • Adidas’ second iteration of the Energy Cloud is a neutral running shoe that delivers a ventilated cushioning and enables a comfortable stride. Designed for neutral pronators, the Energy Cloud 2 features the Cloudfoam midsole that offers a pillow-like cushioning that is supportive as well – making it perfect for beginner runners.
  • A breathable air mesh acting as the upper ensures a relaxed and comfortable in-shoe feel, with its superior breathability and support structure.
  • The Cloudfoam midsole is still present to provide the shoe a step-in comfort and an exceptional level of underfoot cushioning. Together with the abrasion-resistant AdiWear™ outsole, the Cloudfoam forms a sole unit that gives the shoe an almost-weightless feel.

Size and fit

The Adidas Energy Cloud 2 follows a standard running shoe measurement, and it is catered to fit runners with low to moderate foot volumes. The shoe has a wide-constructed forefoot to accommodate toe splay and a close-knit rearfoot to enable a secure wear. Width profiles are available in medium for both men’s and women’s versions.

Just like the popular Adidas Duramo 9, the Energy Cloud 2 employs the AdiWear™ material to form the outsole. This rubber compound delivers protection from abrasion and the necessary traction on a variety of surfaces. Its thick and durable properties allow it to shield the foot from potentially-damaging impact, especially in the high-wear areas.

With Cloudfoam, the Adidas Energy Cloud 2 presents a responsive and well-cushioned midsole that enhances the stride. It has a full-length coverage that produces an overall durability and flexibility to encourage the runner to log more miles. With its straightforward, classic structure, the Cloudfoam makes the Energy Cloud 2 a beginner-friendly shoe.

An OrthoLite® sockliner adds an extra layer of cushioning while also endorsing foot health with its antimicrobial property.

A highly-breathable air mesh comprises the upper of the Energy Cloud 2. It is constructed with numerous holes that promote sufficient airflow, thus keeping away moisture and preventing heat and odors from getting trapped. Beneath it is a textile lining that gives a soft and smooth in-shoe feel.

The ankle collar has a soft and subtle padding that efficiently cradles the ankle and the Achilles and prevents rubbing and irritation.

There is a midfoot cage made from thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) that equips the shoe with a supportive framework, keeping the foot in place. It also provides the structural integrity of the shoe.
