On August 23, 1978, Kobe Bryant was born in Italy and went back to the United States when his father retired from his professional basketball career in 1991. During his high school years, he was playing for his school Merion High School in Ardmore, Philadelphia when NBA recruiters got interested in him. Only 17 years young, Bryant went straight to playing pro and was the first guard in the NBA that was taken straight out of high school.

Fresh from the high school, Adidas inked Kobe Bryant to be their endorser. During his novice years, he was seen wearing the EQT Elevation. The Three Stripes launched Bryant’s first signature footwear in 1997 and called it the KB8.

The KB8 echoes Bryant’s eccentric athleticism and youthful potential. It carries a technology that takes the natural motion of the shoe and showcases bold lines. Since he left the Three Stripes for the big Swoosh, his signature kicks were all renamed.

  Birth of the Crazy 8s

Bryant’s KB8 was renamed to Crazy 8 because of its unconventional design. Adidas also removed the Feet You Wear technology due to legal disputes. The Crazy 8 from Adidas is deemed to be one of the most memorable on-feet selection of the brand. The brand retro-ed this model in 2005 yet it did not receive much welcome from the consumers.

In 2011, Adidas Originals launched the OG iteration of the Crazy 8 which was applauded by many retro heads. Derrick Rose, the current lead endorser of the Adidas, was seen wearing the Crazy 8 in one of his highly televised game with the Miami Heat. Several NCAA teams were also seen wearing this well-celebrated pair.

Adidas improved the details of the Crazy 8 to fit the lifestyle scene. They released the Crazy 8 ADV in the market with premium upper and cushy midsole suited for the city streets rather than the hard court. Later on, the brand revamped the Crazy 8 ADV into a more modern version using the Primeknit upper.

The mid-top Adidas Crazy 8 ADV Primeknit converted the Crazy 8 ADV silhouette into full-blown lifestyle sneaker. The upper is fashioned using the adaptive, lightweight, and breathable Primeknit while keeping the 90s-inspired chunky, zig-zag sole.
