Updates to Adidas Cosmic 2.0 SL

  • Inside the Cosmic 2.0 SL is an Ortholite sock liner which enhances the comfort felt by the runner. It acts as an extra piece of cushioning suitable for running long miles. It also aids in absorbing moisture and keeping odors at bay with its antibacterial properties.
  • On the midsole is the Clodfoam technology. With this equipped, runners will be able to experience the premium step-in feel and cushioning while bearing weight on the platform. It also aids in shock dispersion, minimizing the force felt on parts of the foot and leg that typically receive a high amount of impact during runs.
  • The Achilles is being protected and minimally stabilized by the FitCounter. This device has been molded to hug the heel, bringing the right amount of snugness. It doesn’t constrict the feel. Instead, it allows optimal movement.
  • To protect the bottom of the shoe from early signs of wear and tear, the AdiWear outsole was introduced. This type of rubber is highly durable, but it is safe to wear indoors as it is non-marking.

Size and fit

Adidas Cosmic 2.0 SL is available in standard running shoe sizes. Those interested in a pair will be able to use their usual size preferences as guides. Widths also come in standard measurements – D – medium for men and B – medium for women.

Outsole

Adidas uses the AdiWear high-performance rubber on most of its athletic shoes. Its durable characteristics enable it to deliver a good amount of protection and traction on the bottom of the shoe. Despite this, it still stretches and bends enough to allow natural movement while running. It is safe to use indoors as it is a kind of rubber that’s non-marking on common floor materials like hardwood.

The tread pattern is composed of several rectangular shapes of varying sizes, with plenty of flex grooves and indentions. With this tread in place, it enhances the traction provided by the outsole. It improves the runner’s stability and grip without compromising flexibility.

Midsole

The Cloudfoam technology on the midsole provides a premium feel underfoot. This EVA compound was made by Adidas to deliver enough cushioning that can still provide comfort even after long periods of usage. It also attenuates shock accordingly, reducing the impact felt on specific parts of the foot.

A removable insole called the Ortholite Sockliner had been added to complement the cushioning of the midsole technology. Aside from delivering long-term comfort, it also aids in keeping odors at bay because of its antibacterial properties. It also helps keep the foot cool and dry by allowing air to circulate while moving moisture away from the foot.

Upper

The upper is made up of a breathable stretch mesh. This material allows air to easily move in and out of the shoe, reducing hot spots significantly. The mesh also has elastic characteristics which allow the runner to feel like the fit on the upper has been customized. The upper brings the right amount of snugness without constricting the foot.

Only a few overlays are found on the upper. Adidas’ three-stripe logo is found on the sides to lock the midfoot in place minimally. The base of the shoelaces, where the lace holes are found, have also been strengthened with the use of a synthetic film. This allows tightening of the laces without worrying about the lace holes tearing.

The lacing system is standard. Runners will be able to tighten the fit on the midfoot per usual. There is an extra tab found midway, attached to the tongue, to keep the laces in place as the runner is in motion.

To keep the heel from excessively moving, the Adidas FitCounter was incorporated. Because it is molded, its shape is similar to the heel allowing for an optimal fit. It doesn’t lock the heel down totally, but it does ensure the right amount of space to permit natural movement.

Providing a way for the foot to conveniently slip in is the rear pull tab. Unlike other pull tabs which look like an attached loop, it looks like an extension of the heel area. Runners can grip on the extension to make putting on the shoe a lot easier.

The collar has been padded so the premium comfort the shoe delivers can also be felt on the heel. Aside from this, the padding also ensures a better fit on the mouth.
