Bottom line

The Patrol GV is an Asolo product considered nothing short of phenomenal thanks to its excellent ankle support and grip performance. This is a well-crafted gear also admired for its awe-inspiring water protection. That said, the boot might not resonate well with people who prefer going light as it has been reported to be a bit on the heavy side. • The Asolo Patrol GV is a boot designed for hikes from summer to winter. Rain or shine, muddy or snowy, it delivers water protection through its water-resistant suede leather and Cordura upper that’s lined with a Gore-Tex membrane.
  • The sole unit is a creation of Asolo and Vibram called the Duo Radiant. It consists of a bi-density midsole and a rubber outsole which is created using the Megagrip compound.

Asolo’s Patrol GV is a day hiking boot for men and women. Fairly running true to size, the boot is offered in regular lengths and medium width. For a cushioned performance, the tongue and collar are padded. A classic lace-up closure grants the user a personalized fit.

Responsible for delivering grip and performance is the Asolo/Vibram Duo Radiant outsole. The Megagrip compound was used in the creation of this unit. It is made durable and sticky so that it can tackle the demands of day hiking which include slippery and muddy surfaces.

Aggressive boots found in the heel section aid the wearer during descents. Lugs that are spread on the lateral and medial sides promote stability and grant increased support during pronation.  The front tip extends upward to form a bumper.

The Patrol GV features a midsole with two densities. The top unit is compact to grant stability. The lower part is a soft unit that stretches from the heel to the forefoot. It absorbs shock and delivers optimum comfort during hikes.

More cushioning and support comes from the anatomic footbed called Lite 2. The boot’s Asoflex 00 MR lasting board serves as an underfoot shield from the impacts of on-trail obstacles like roots and rocks.

The upper combines 1.6 - 1.8 mm suede and Cordura. This design creates a durable and water-resistant performance. It has a mid-cut design to support the ankle.

Lining the boot is the Gore-Tex Performance Comfort membrane. This waterproofing component is optimized for varying weather conditions. It has moderate insulation that’s useful during cold weather and breathability for warmer days.

There’s a TPU toe cap with the purpose of protecting the foot from accidental bumps. The lace-up closure consists of metal hardware and a fabric lace. Easy on and off is made possible by the pull tab at the back.
