The Salomon Sonic 3 Confidence is a product that is meant for those who enjoy the urban landscapes. The overall design of the silhouette is similar to many modern road shoes, with an uncluttered upper that is breathable yet well-supported by printed overlays. The underfoot experience is the charge of the two-material midsole foam, with a full-length one taking responsibility of general foot comfort and forward energy and a heel wedge handling impact attenuation and steadiness. This Confidence model differentiates itself from other Sonic 3 counterparts (the Balance and the Accelerate) through a broader platform design and a bump up to cushioning density.

Size and fit

Runners can enjoy their usual choices of size because the Salomon Sonic 3 Confidence has been configured using the standard sizing schemes. Being able to enjoy consistent comfort and in-shoe security is merely a matter of having confident testing of this product or knowledge of the quality of the foot-wrap via other users’ reviews.

The outsole unit of the Salomon Sonic 3 Confidence is made of Contagrip, a rubber compound that is meant to be highly protective of the bottom part of the midsole foam. 'Surface grip' is also another trait of this layer, and it’s optimized for both dry and wet ground conditions.

Flex grooves are elements that make the platform as flexible as possible. These channels benefit the toe-off especially because it is the part of the gait cycle that involves the bending of the toe joints.

The platform has been decoupled into four quadrants. This configuration has the goal of isolating the impact shock generated by every striking phase to the point of contact while also heightening flexibility.

The midsole unit of this neutral running shoe features the Optivibe, a cushioning system that involves two foams. The purpose of the first foam is to support the whole length of the foot, guiding it through the stride and energizing it during the toe-off. The second one is a heel wedge that seeks to improve impact attenuation and general heel steadiness.

An OrthoLite® sockliner rests on top of the main cushioning unit. The job of this add-on is to provide additional softness for the underside of the foot. It has antimicrobial and anti-moisture features to maintain a dry and healthy interior environment.

The upper unit of the Salomon Sonic 3 Confidence features engineered mesh. This material is meant to provide a form-welcoming and breathable wrap that is similar to a sock. It is light and flexible, as well. Engineered mesh is used by many running shoe series, including the Saucony Kinvara line.

An OrthoLite® Impressions tongue unit offers a layer of thin foam that is able to contour itself to the exact outline of the instep that rests against it. The foam itself is made of 50% bio-oil to potentially lessen the use of traditional, non-eco-friendly materials.
