We spent 8.8 hours reading reviews from experts and users. In summary, this is what tennis players think:

7 reasons to buy

  • Swift players find the Gel Solution Speed 3 very light and ideal for their kind of game.
  • According to comments by satisfied users, this Asics speed shoe offers stability during long hours of playing singles and doubles.
  • A significant sum of Asics Gel Solution Speed 3 reviews talk about the right amount of cushioning it offers.
  • As per heaps of playtesters, this tennis footgear stretches out after giving it a considerable break-in period.
  • A substantial number of toe draggers attest that the front section of the shoe holds up pretty well.
  • Hard-line aggressive athletes affirm that there are no slippage issues with this shoe.
  • This speed shoe is durable enough that many consider this well worth the money.

3 reasons not to buy

  • More than a few state that this 3rd generation Gel Solution Speed produces an annoying clinking sound on the rubber toe area, especially when running and walking.
  • Quite a lot express that the added TPU layer on the mesh makes it less breathable than other Asics Solution Speed offerings.
  • A couple of comments from buyers indicate that ankle support is quite limited.

Bottom line

Asics added the 3rd iteration Solution Speed to its growing lineup of speed shoes. Injected with the same Solyte midsole that’s found in the Solution Speed 2, this new generation footwear maintains a lightweight feel. It benefits aggressive players who love flying around the court when pushing for scores.

Despite not having an outsole replacement warranty, it offers durability. This shoe has a modified upper with TPU wrapping that may not have adequate ventilation and causes popping noise, but remains to be a solid option with remarkable ground contact.

I was really impressed with the support and stability of this shoe. I love that it is light weight, I think Asics really nailed it.

I’m getting more durability from these than from much heavier shoes I’ve recently playtested.

A newly engineered upper makes this already high performing shoe even lighter and more flexible than versions before. The full-length Polyurethane material adds more durability to the shoe’s upper and pairs with the Trusstic system to keep your feet supported while making aggressive cuts on the court.

Even without a ton of cushioning, these shoes are very comfortable and my feet didn’t get sore during my playing sessions. On court, they were quick and responsive to lateral movements and forward accelerations and gripped the court nicely.

Traction and stability were one of its strengths as it gave me the traction when needed and also allowed me to slide on the court lunging for volleys and allowing me to get back on the court. Since the shoe is a little snug all around, it kept my foot in place and never felt like I was “swimming” in them. Overall, it’s a great quality shoe from Asics, a better version of the Solution Speed 2’s we tested a while back.

The shoes are light and there’s absolutely enough stability for my level of play. I’m never afraid to roll the ankle in any situation. Comfort is good but not great. There’s a low-to–the-ground feeling, a feature I like in general.

A modified version of the 2nd incarnation, the Gel Solution Speed 3 is wrapped with a full PU Flexion Fit casing. This external wrapping intends to provide more dynamic support than the previous model without putting tons of weight to the feet. It may not be equipped with the durable characteristics of trainers from the Asics Gel Resolution family, but it’s flexible with the ability to adapt to the kind of play preferred by aggressive court movers.

Like the previous design, this shoe has a low-to-the-ground profile but crafted with a broader lateral forefoot makeup for enhanced stability. It features the Trusstic midfoot arch system that helps control torsion, an advantageous attribute for players who spin and slide a lot during intense court action.

Traction. The rubber outsole offers a balance of grip and give that permits the user to spin around the court at full speed. Inspired by the rubber material used in car tires, the bottom section of the shoe is devised with the AHAR (Asics High Abrasion Rubber). This tough-wearing material reduces damage and puts more life to the outsole.

Tread pattern. Such rubber compound is hollowed out with a modified, non-marking herringbone tread pattern that allows the user to switch and perform from one type of outdoor court to another.

Support. This footgear is incorporated with the Asics Impact Guidance System (IGS), a series of support technologies that are meant to promote natural foot movement during rigorous court games.

The midfoot arch is crafted with the Trusstic plane to minimize ankle twisting and achieve smooth landings. It works as the primary source of stability that gives the player the confidence to charge towards the net and baselines.

Cushioning. Much of the shoe’s reduced weight is contributed by the Solyte midsole, a foam compound that’s lighter than the typical Asics EVA (ethyl vinyl acetate) foam and SpEVA (special EVA). Despite its lightweight makeup, this sponge buffers impact, limiting the chances of foot discomforts.

Like the high-performance Gel Resolutions, this speed trainer offers enhanced cushioning coming from the signature Gel pads. The rearfoot and forefoot Gel cushioning system offsets shock during toe-offs and landings. Also, these silicone-based soft pads help the foot transition through the gait cycle.

Flexibility. It features a full-length polyurethane casing called Flexion Fit that’s wrapped atop a mesh membrane. The purpose of this overlay is to deliver more support and flexibility since this shoe is primarily designed for speedy court players.

Durability. For added durability, the forefoot section is designed with a PGuard toe protector. The added layer protects the shoe from abrasion, especially during repeated toe drags.

Stability. Asics introduced the PHF (Personalized Heel Fit) system to achieve a better fit and stability around the heel collar. It is made up of two layers of memory foam which intends to mold to the user’s rearfoot for a customized fit.

  • A soft court version of this shoe that’s mainly useful on clay surfaces is the Asics Gel Solution Speed 3 Clay.
  • It should be noted that the TPU (thermoplastic polyurethane) wrapping on the upper tends to make the fit snug in the forefoot.
