Who should buy the Adidas Lowertree SPZL

For busy people, the Adidas Lowertree SPZL is not an ideal choice as it might require regular cleaning. Also, fashion-conscious wearers thoughtful of shoe colors to match their outfits might get disappointed with the sneaker's limited colorways. They are better off with the Adidas Spezial.

Size and fit

The Adidas Lowertree SPZL is offered in men's sizing. The lace-up front fastening system provides a customized fit while securing the wearer's feet. Meanwhile, the lightweight EVA sockliner provides comfort and support.

Adidas Lowertree SPZL Style

The low-top Adidas Lowertree SPZL displays a profile inspired by a retro marathon sneaker that was dressed in mixed materials. The upper is made of suede and mesh materials with leather overlays for added durability and appeal. This kick was dipped in a combination of pastel hues, such as off-white, light purple, and aero reef, to give a fresh take to retro-inspired footwear.

As this sneaker displays a striking colorway, many opt to pair this up with a neutral-colored outfit, such as plain white tees and khaki trousers or blue denim jeans, to direct attention to this trendy kick. Meanwhile, some pair this sneaker with colorful clothes for a bolder and more eye-catching ensemble.

Notable Features

The 90s inspired look of the Adidas Lowertree SPZL makes this kick striking for the majority of the reviewers and onlookers. The soft pastel color combination was inspired by the Acid House parties during the late 80s. This model was finished off with the "heel scoop" on its midsole, similar to the Adidas Marathon '85 sneaker.

Adidas Lowertree SPZL History

In 2014, Adidas formed the Spezial team that specializes in re-introducing some silhouettes from the Three Stripes' archives. The brand assigned two passionate Adidas collectors, namely Gary Aspden and Mike Chetcuti, to curate the iconic designs of shoes and apparel that represent the rich history of Adidas and its impact on the sneaker culture.

The Adidas Spezial unveiled the Summer of Love collection in early 2018 for their Spring/Summer collection. This lineup was formed to pay homage to the 30th year celebration of the rave culture and the acid house parties prominent in the 80s. This collection is composed of vibrant silhouettes inspired by the profile from Adidas' archives.

As a follow-up to the feat of the Summer of Love capsule, the brand launched another lineup for their Autumn/Winter 2018 called the 'Acid Winter' collection. This series was unveiled in September 2018 and is composed of a throng of footwear, apparel, and accessories to celebrate the 30th year of the 80s house music subgenre. The Adidas Spezial team dipped into the archives to re-create silhouettes into a modernized concept, such as the Munchen Super SPZL, Indoor Comp SPZL, Punstock SPZL, and the Lowertree SPZL.

The Adidas Lowertree SPZL is inspired by the marathon sneaker of the late 80s. It displays a combination of bright colorways to add fresh appeal to the throwback elements.  It showcases a running sneaker-inspired silhouette with a pastel color combination of white/purple/blue on its suede and meshes upper.
