87 / 100 based on 9 expert reviews

  • 86 / 100 by Runner's World • Runner's World • Level 5 expert

The Terraventure has the versatility to get you from the door to the trail. Its sole has lots of squared edges to keep you steady on loose ground, but the flat lugs are smooth over stretches of pavement.

  • 87 / 100 by Runblogger • David Henry • Level 4 expert

A shoe that provides a fairly precise, albeit firm and minimalistic ride, on a low drop platform with one of the better fits out there.

  • 86 / 100 by Road Trail Run • Jeff Valliere • Level 4 expert

No discomfort, not too stiff or too flexible, no sliding inside the shoe, they have very good grip on a variety of terrain and great versatility be it dirt roads, short stretches of pavement or technical mountain trails.

  • 81 / 100 by Running Northwest • Jeremy Krall • Level 4 expert

Overall, the Terraventure from Top Athletic is a really solid trail shoe and while I don’t think it’s going to make you a lot faster, it definitely makes up for that when it comes to durability and distance.

  • 94 / 100 by Bonk Proof • Jordan Hull • Level 2 expert

Truly a must-try for those of you looking to go long and for those of you in some really tough terrain struggling to find something that is both durable and has a natural ride.

  • 92 / 100 by Muscle and Miles • Crystal • Level 2 expert

This shoe works – it’s light, it has a narrow body and wide toe box, aggressive grip and the colors are spot on.

  • 91 / 100 by Run Far Girl • Sarah Canney • Level 1 expert

It is an improvement from the Runventure and has a lot of features that I lean towards in a shoe: low drop, not overly cushioned and my feet are starting to really feel much more comfortable in the wide toe box.

  • 90 / 100 by Run Oregon Blog • Drew Roberts • Level 1 expert

Overall, I think these are a great pair of shoes for trail running, especially as trainers and even for longer runs in snow or inclement weather like rain and mud.

  • 78 / 100 by 16 Weeks • BJ Smith • Level 1 expert

I’d love to give them another shot if they’ll introduce an update with less printed material to improve ventilation and drainage plus spread out the lugs to shed mud.

Topo Athletic Terraventure size and fit

The Topo Athletic Terravneture is a neutral trail running shoe. It has a standard shoe length when it comes to sizing. This is best for runners who love and prefer rugged trail activities. D – Medium for the men’s version and B – Medium for the women’s version are the available widths.

Outsole

The Topo Athletic Terraventure is made up of Multi-directional lugs. At the front of the sole, sharp and small gripping lugs are placed to provide traction, while wider lugs are placed in the heel area to aid in breaking during descents. When these two are combined together, they help maintain good ground contact and level of control over a variety of surfaces.

The outsole is made up of a Vibram Rubber that provides increased traction and durability. The platform composition of the Topo Athletic Terraventure is based on the runner’s specific performance needs. It is designed to accommodate different ranges of running activities.

It has an ESS Rock Plate in the Forefoot area. It aids in protecting the runner’s foot from hazardous trail debris.

Midsole

The Topo Athletic Terraventure has a Full-Length EVA Midsole foam. It has enough cushioning and rebound properties. It helps in protecting the runner’s foot from feeling sharp materials that can be found on the trails. This technology has the ability to endure the challenges in running and walking activities.

Upper

The Topo Athletic Terrventure is composed of a 2-Layer Abrasion Resistant Mesh. This material is used to provide breathability. It releases and absorbs perspiration quickly during hot seasons and keeps the runner’s foot warm in cold conditions.

It has a Printed Upper Pattern for better midfoot security. The pattern is directly printed onto the mesh to provide durability while reducing delamination on the parts of the shoe.

It utilizes the Ghillie Lacing System for added midfoot security. It contributes to the comfort level of runners who have wide and narrow foot-dimensions. It provides a snug fit throughout the running activity without minimal adjustments.

The Topo Athletic Terraventure has an Anatomical Toe Box. It allows the runner’s toes to splay out naturally and comfortably. The roomy toe box of the shoe prevents different issues like bunions, hammertoes, and bruised toenails.
