Comparing Teva's size chart to other popular outdoor brands, we found its sizing scheme consistent with most of them.
But that doesn't guarantee that you can always get the same size in a Teva sandal as you wear in your KEEN shoes, for example.
The best starting point is to measure your foot length and then round it up to the nearest Mondopoint (CM) or inch measurement in the chart below. Please note that your actual foot length should be 5-6 mm smaller than the Mondopoint number to price enough space in front of your toes (you don't want your toes to end up brushing the ground, right?).

How Teva sandals fit
In most sandals from Teva, all three straps are adjustable allowing you to customize the fit individually in the forefoot, the ankle, and the heel.
Lengthwise, we found that your longest toe should sit about a centimeter behind the front edge of the sandal's sole. That way, your toes won't be touching the ground as you walk downhill.
In our lab, we measure the internal length of each Teva shoe and sandal with a caliper to let you know if it runs true to the brand's size chart. We also provide details on the fit of each Teva offering in-depth lab reviews:
Teva's All-Gender styles
A few shoes and sandals from Teva (including the Original Universal) are offered as All-Gender styles (or unisex). Instead of having a standard medium B (women's) or D (men's) width, these models have a middle-ground c/D width which is meant to accommodate both.
The sizes for such styles are given in the following format:
M6/W8 |
As you can see, women's (W) size is 2 US sizes larger than men's (M).
Teva shoes for wider feet
Teva doesn't offer extended widths in its footwear. Luckily, you have the option to adjust the forefoot strap in the brand's sandals to loosen up the fit as much as you need.
And if you'd like to know the sole width of a specific Teva sandal, have a look at our lab reviews where we measure the widest part of both the forefoot and the heel.
Teva sizing vs. Chaco, KEEN, and Hoka
Based on the data from their shoe size charts, popular outdoor brands like Teva, Chaco, KEEN, and Hoka all share the same sizing scheme.
Shoe length (MM) | Teva | Chaco | KEEN | Hoka |
Men's US sizes | ||||
270 | 9 | 9 | 9 | 9 |
280 | 10 | 10 | 10 | 10 |
290 | 11 | 11 | 11 | 11 |
Women's US sizes | ||||
230 | 6 | 6 | 6 | 6 |
240 | 7 | 7 | 7 | 7 |
250 | 8 | 8 | 8 | 8 |
However, this doesn't guarantee that the same size is going to fit equally comfortably in every shoe and sandal from these brands. Width, upper design, and materials can alter the fit of some styles and call for sizing up or down in some shoes/sandals.
