- The Scarpa ZG Pro GTX is a hiking boot designed to give adventurers a versatile kind of performance all while carrying heavy loads. Its stitched-on upper bars intrusive wet elements thanks to Gore-Tex.

- A sole unit called Salix Trek is what allows users to negotiate rough terrain with enough comfort and security. Developed by Scarpa in collaboration with Vibram, this unified component is made up of the ZG Pro GTX’s dual-density midsole and Vibram outsole. It has a slightly upturned forefoot zone (a.k.a toe rocker) for improved push offs.

Scarpa’s ZG Pro GTX is a relatively true-to-size, high-cut backpacking boot for men and women. It is offered in standard width. It comes in a range of full and half sizes. The footgear’s quick lace-up closure provides backpackers with a snug and secure lockdown. This lacing system has a pair of locking eyelets, allowing users to give its lower and upper sections independent configurations.

The ZG Pro GTX is equipped with a Vibram outsole, called XS Trek. Its rubberized construction is designed for a responsive ride, especially over unpredictable terrain. Multi-sided lugs occupy almost every inch of its surface to provide off-trail enthusiasts with extra slip and skid resistance on loose soil. Its front tip gives the toe box additional protection against knocks and bumps.

Enough cushioning and terrain balance are promised by the ZG Pro GTX’s lightweight midsole. As it is made of polyurethane (PU), this component has high durability and abrasion resistance. Its dual-density construction grants zonal comfort, especially during transitions.

To make the wearer’s stride even more comfortable, the engineers over at Scarpa paired this cushy component with the Comfort Flex Plus insole. Its 5-mm main layer is made with a combination of fiberglass and polypropylene. Its top layer, on the other hand, is furnished with compressed felt for additional cushioning.

The high-top upper of the Scarpa ZG Pro GTX is primarily made of nubuck leather. A toe cap made of thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) reinforces its front end to shield the wearer’s tootsies from the direct assaults of the terrain. On the waterproofing front, this Scarpa offering is exclusively imbued with Gore-Tex’s Performance Comfort technology (also found in the X Ultra 3 GTX from Salomon).

Completing the ZG Pro GTX’s upper equation is the hiking shoe’s two-zone lockdown system. It is comprised of a synthetic lace and mostly metallic combination eyelets.
