Overview of this review
Good to know
Having a low-cut design is not only the promising feature of these Reebok Bolton Essential trainers. Adding to its already lightweight EVA midsole tooling is a Soft Hexalite hexagonal tech which promotes stability as well. Laces are the typical go-to enclosure for these vintage runners.
Men and women are prized to be able to cop these honorable pieces in sizes ranging from 7 all the way up to 13, which includes half sizes. Though the sneaker is available in unisex sizing, it still follows the men’s width and standard, which explains why it starts at 7 or 8.5 for women’s.
As with the Aztreks and Pyros, these Reebok Bolton Essential shoes go well with almost anything including ankle-clamping skinny jeans and joggers, to free-flowing straight cut pants. Highlighting the vintage street style can be accomplished by sporting 501’s and denim jackets, but who are we to judge, right?
Almost every detail paying homage to the past tapestry of Reebok was featured in these Reebok Bolton Essential classics including the iconic vector logo as well as the undeniable heel counter with Reebok branding. Structure-wise, these pumpin’ kicks lay resolution to what Reebok is all about amid its beginnings.
The only difference between the initially revamped Reebok Bolton and the Essential is the use of different textile material and the bold color-blocking on the upper. Some colorways of the Bolton feature hexagonal designs on the toe box while the Bolton Essential exudes a finer textile display. A stitched runner is also embellished on the Starcrest logo at the tongue.
Reebok had been around for decades or a century perhaps, and throughout its progressive years, it has its ups and downs. The ‘80s was its most promising ethos to date which stretches to the early ‘90s and in between this timeline surfaces a runner that pays a nod to the UK-born company’s roots.
The Reebok Bolton debuted in 1992 which envelops all the necessary accents for running. It is composed of a lightweight EVA midsole fused with one of Reebok’s promising tech at the time-the Hexalite cushioning. It remained in the shadows after heaploads of trends took over the sneakerhead fandom.
After hibernating in the Reebok catalog to what seems to be an eternity, the Reebok Bolton was resurrected in 2015. With a contemporary upgrade on its assembly, the retro sneaker shines in a microsuede upper with mesh underlays. Fans from the past and present began to reestablish their love for the long lost sneaker again.
In 2019, Reebok decided to give the Bolton another go evident in the Reebok Bolton Essential. Priced at a cheaper than usual $100, the sneaker tones down the vivid colorways of its predecessor and introduces new and modern colorways to its classic style.
- The uppers are made of a combination of synthetic and mesh.
- Some of the colorways include True Grey, Chalk, Grey/Mineral, White/Skull Grey, and many more.
- Reebok brandings are found on the tongue, vector overlay, heel counter, and outsole.
