Fit and sizing
The Ferrari Drift Cat 5 Ultra is a well-ventilated sneaker with a lace-up closure system. Based on many reviews and on the brand site itself, the shoe has a narrow fit, which follows the streamlined design of one of the world’s favorite sports cars.
The shoe has a low-to-the-ground feel and a rounded driver’s heel for more comfort when operating a vehicle.
Style of the PUMA Ferrari Drift Cat 5 Ultra
If ever there was a shoe that personified racing, then the Ferrari Drift Cat 5 Ultra is it. This shoe has an extremely sporty look that would go well with any casual outfit such as track pants and rolled-up jeans and most types of denim.
The sleek upper conveys speed, and the perforations all around the shoe, while definitely eye-catching, serve another purpose. They allow air to circulate inside, keeping your foot dry and sweat-free.
Notable features
The Ferrari shield logo on the sides of the sneaker and the leaping cat graphic on the toes immediately convey to the observer that this is quality footwear. The sleek styling of the shoe echoes the graceful and speedy design of cars built by the world-renowned Italian sports car manufacturer, Ferrari.
A distinguishable feature in the shoe includes the PUMA Formstrip on the upper, which is shown in the form of perforated details. A breathable EcoOrthoLite sockliner gives the shoe optimum fit and comfort.
History of the PUMA Ferrari Drift Cat 5 Ultra
The Ferrari Drift Cat 5 Ultra is an iteration from the popular Drift Cat series, which in turn is the third evolution of that iconic racing shoe, the Speed Cat. The Speed Cat was released in 2001 and debuted on the feet of Jordan Formula 1 team driver Jean Alesi and his pit crew. It was in black suede with a Jordan yellow formstrip.
In 2004, PUMA, in collaboration with Michael Schumacher, evolved the Speed Cat into the Future Cat. The Future Cat had asymmetrical lacing and a re-designed forefoot which gave the shoe both comfort and a snug fit. The midsole’s dual-density material dampened vibrations but helped maintain the pedal feel. It also featured a leaping cat on the shoe’s forefoot and seven stars on the heel counter. The Future Cat came out in a number of hi- and low-top versions in 2005.
When PUMA realized the potential of the shoe in the lifestyle sector, the brand released the Future Cat in a wide array of styles and colors. The continued popularity of the shoe led to the creation of the Drift Cat, a shoe geared for the street culture that made the Future Cat a favorite.
The Ferrari Drift Cat 5 Ultra keeps its motorsport racing history with this update of the classic Drift Cat. It has a synthetic upper with perforation details and a raised strip on both sides for texture and depth.
