Skechers Skech-Air Stratus - Maglev History

Established in 1992, Skechers was founded by Robert Greenberg. At first, it was intended to distribute Doc Martens shoes but after almost a year, Greenberg decided to turn it into his line of footwear. Its first releases were skate shoes and utility cleats. In 1993, the brand became a hit in California after introducing the Chrome Dome. 

The Chrome Dome was the spark that promoted gender availability in sneakers. It was made for both women and men and it has a grunge vibe which was the trend at that time. Soon after Skechers' success, they began to sign up celebrity promoters like Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera among others to push their popularity even more. 

Since then, Skechers has proven that its brand by producing what the young consumers want in terms of style and design and balances it with both comfort and practicality.
