Size and fit
The Moab FST 2 WP is a low-cut model that can be worn by men and women and is available in medium widths. It has a padded tongue and collar that gives the wearer a snug fit, along with a Kinetic Fit BASE insole that is contoured to the shape of the foot. The traditional lace-up closure allows for a convenient adjustment of the fit while the pull tabs in the heel and tongue facilitate an easy entrance of the foot.
Like the earlier version of the Moab FST, this model features the Vibram MegaGrip outsole which is made of high-performance rubber. Among its chief qualities are stickiness, traction, grip, and durability. According to Vibram, the MegaGrip sole offers optimal ground adaptability and is well-suitable for dry and wet conditions.
The Moab FST 2 Waterproof uses a lighter midsole. It also comes with the Kinetic Base insole that offers flexible support for all movement. This Merrel-exclusive removable footbed has an intuitive shape and superior arch coverage. It has a mesh liner for moisture management and is treated with odor control compounds to keep the foot feeling fresh.
This lightweight hiker features an upper made of mesh and Nubuck leather. The bellows tongue keeps the foot protected from debris while the traditional closure keeps it secured. The upper interior is lined with the M Select DRY impermeable membrane which acts as a barrier against external moisture.
The Moab FST 2 Wp also comes with the Merrell Air Cushion - a sealed unit in the heel section that works by absorbing weight and helping align the foot for a more comfortable stride. According to Merrell, this air cushion can absorb up to four times the person’s weight.
