The Average Price of Hiking Boots, Shoes, and Sandals

We analysed the MSRP (manufacturers suggested retail price) and lowest available prices of more than 8,000 shoes to understand the average cost of hiking shoes, boots, and sandals by brand, year, and more. 

Top average hiking footwear price statistics for 2021:

  • The average MSRP price of a pair of hiking shoes is $177.67 while the average available lowest price is $122.66 
  • The cheapest piece of hiking footwear was the Teva Hurricane Drift which was available for $40.00
  • The average US adult labours for ​​15.79 hours at work in order to afford each piece of hiking footwear they buy.

  • Mountaineering boots are 128.06% more expensive than hiking boots
  • Mountaineering boots are 245.45% more expensive than hiking shoes
