Good to know

The Asics Curreo II is a unisex Asics shoe model offered in men's sizing from US 4 to 16 in D Medium width. For the ladies, it is suggested to opt for two sizes down their standard sizes to attain an accurate and comfortable fit.

These low-top Asics sneakers feature a traditional lace-up closure system that offers a secure and adjustable fit on foot. The tongue has a central loop tab to help keep it in place and give a lockdown fit. While the upper is built mainly of a mesh material that conforms to the foot for a snug fit, synthetic leather reinforcements on the toe area and heel are in place for added support and stability.

The Asics Curreo II boasts a retro-inspired appeal. It has a design built with a perfect mix of comfort and street style that could complete any casual look in no time for both men and women. The mesh upper gives out breathable comfort and, at the same time, a sporty vibe – a feature that gives the nod to the classic Asics running shoe that inspired this model, the X-Caliber.

These running-inspired Asics sneakers are the updated version of the Asics Curreo shoe, one of the brand’s recent models inspired by the ‘80s X-Caliber running shoes. Its mesh-based upper showcases its running shoe heritage, with sufficient reinforcement on the toe area and heel for that much-needed support and stability.

One minor difference of this version from the original Curreo model is that it lacks the vast Asics branding on the heel. Midsole design is also much simpler but remains as cushiony and as supportive as that of the Curreo’s regarding functionality.

One of today’s top leading sneaker brands aside from Adidas, Nike, Puma, Reebok, and New Balance is Asics. On September 1, 1949, Kihachiro Onitsuka founded the Onitsuka Co., Ltd, which later on officially became Asics Corporation when it merged with GTO Co, a sports company, and Jelenk Co, a knitwear company, in 1977.

A popular running shoe model from Asics during the ‘80s is the X-Caliber. The X-Caliber is designed for flat track surfaces and hard pavement. It is lightweight and durable with a nylon mesh upper, expanded carbon rubber outsole with Tiger's Meander Tread pattern, and an exclusive EVA midsole that later on paved way to the development of Asics’ Gel cushioning technology.

Fast forward to today, the Asics Corporation under Asics Tiger or simply known as Asics, its sneaker subsidiary, released the Asics Curreo II. It is a follow-up model to the Asics Curreo, which took its design inspiration from the X-Caliber model.

Like the X-Caliber, the low-top Asics Curreo II is lightweight and durable. Although designed for lifestyle use, the Curreo’s features and aesthetic still take after its running shoe DNA. Some currently available colorways include “Mid Grey/ Samba,” “Forest/ Moonrock,” “Peacoat/ Glacier Grey,” “Burgundy/ Peacoat,” “Black/ Carbon,” and the classic “Black/White” colorway.

  • The tonal laces are flat.
  • Asics branding is minimal and can only be seen printed on the tongue.
  • Mudguard and heel overlays in synthetic leather materials are featured for added support and stability.
  • The durable rubber outsole boasts a herringbone pattern.
