The TNF Hedgehog Hike II GTX caters to male and female day hikers. It is available in regular sizes and standard width. Both versions generally run true to size. Also, with its lace-up closure, users can customize and achieve their desired fit.
The Hedgehog Hike II GTX from The North Face wears the Vibram XS Trek outsole. Its compound balances traction and durability. The lugs, which are of varying shapes and sizes, are designed for rugged terrain. The mini pyramid-like boots at the midfoot region prevent accumulation of mud and trail debris to maintain its bite on ground surfaces.
The cushioned midsole of this watertight hiking shoe is paired with an ESS Snake Plate. This element provides underfoot protection without limiting flexibility.
Cradling the user’s foot is an Ortholite footbed. It has an open-cell PU foam construction which optimizes breathability and drives moisture away. On the other hand, a TPU heel clip enhances stability.
Giving the Hedgehog Hike II GTX its velvety look is an upper made of durable high-oil-content leather. The crisscross pattern in the midfoot area helps maintain the shoe’s structure while the perforations promote breathability. Inside is a Gore-Tex bootie which protects the foot from a range of weather conditions.
For extra protection on the trails, it is designed with a rubber toe cap and gusseted tongue. The former safeguards the foot against accidental bumps while the latter helps keep debris out. Also, its tongue and collar are padded for comfort.
Its closure system includes a round lace which passes through sets of metal eyelets and webbing loops. A tab at the back assists in on and off.
