Puma RS-0 Play History
Functioning through amazing innovations, footwear brand Puma has surprised and surpassed the expectations of everyone by becoming a brand to be reckoned with in the sneaker market. Founded in 1948, Puma’s humble beginnings can be traced all the way back to the 1920s when the Dassler brothers started a footwear company Gebrüder Dassler Schuhfabrik in Germany. The company’s spiked shoes hurled it forward to success, recognition coming in at the 1928 Olympic Summer Games where many athletes won medals and also broke records while wearing Dassler shoes.
Despite the success, a rift happened between the Dassler brothers that prompted one of them to leave. Rudolf Dassler left on bad terms with his brother and decided to open his own footwear company. And so, Puma Schuhfabrik Rudolf Dassler, or as what we all know as Puma today, was born. The company started out with football cleats like the Atom but this wasn’t enough for Rudolf, and he went on to create the Super Atom, football boots that had screw-in studs, a first ever in the world. Here, in the world of football, Puma made a mark, but it didn’t stop the brand from growing. It went on to dominate in other sports such a tennis, basketball, track and field, and more.
The innovation that Puma has imbued into the shoe it releases has become one of the reasons why athletes can achieve wins when wearing Puma shoes, with performance being significantly enhanced. Of course, throughout all this, Puma still pays tribute to its heritage and history. Lately, it has been taking inspiration from past models and tweaking it to come off modern, current, and appealing. For 2018, Puma takes a step back to give something new to a little old. The Puma RS-0 Play sees the introduction of the RS (Running System) design. Puma’s RS technology which was revealed to the public in the 1980s is all about delivering high-quality performance.
With the Puma RS-0 Play, the brand takes inspiration from 80s video games and arcades to breathe life into this sneaker, with excellent color pops and translucent details sending waves of nostalgia. The Puma RS-0 Play takes memorable games and instills it into this sneaker, classics such as Tetris, Pac-Man, and Super Mario Bros.
