Puma Basket Heart Hyper History

Back in the 1940s, Rudolf and Adolf Dassler who owned the Gebruder-Dassler Schuhfabrik had a falling out, so they went their ways and started their businesses. Rudolf established the Puma Company in 1948.

Initially intended for basketball, the Puma Basket was released in 1968. Since then, it has been issued in several colorways and styles and has remained and proven to be durable. To create a specific style for the ladies, the Puma Basket was redesigned with a feminine twist.

As Puma continues to look for ways to innovate and invent female-specific versions of their classic silhouettes, Senior Designer Sportstyle Footwear Carly McKenzie spearheaded the design creation of the Puma Basket Heart. Back in the 1970s, boys styled their footwear with fat laces. Carly took that idea and added it to the Puma Basket Heart.

With two different shoelaces, one can choose to flaunt a girlie or a sporty look, getting two different styles out of one shoe. The design of the Puma Basket Heart is inspired by how the girls style their shoes. Girls often wrap the laces around their ankles which boys perhaps wouldn’t attempt to do.

The low-top Puma Basket Heart Hyper is the perfect balance of Puma’s femininity and identity. The lovable sneaker has a velvet upper with embroidered floral detail which is a head-turner. It has an Ortholite sockliner that ensures all-day comfortable wear and durable rubber outsole for a sure grip.
