Updates to Lowa Nabucco Evo GTX

  • The newest Lowa Nabucco model has the Vibram Arctic Grip Trac II outsole that offers superior traction on cold conditions, particularly snowy terrain.
  • It’s made with a Nubuck leather upper that provides reliable protection against the elements. Then there’s a Gore-tex lining that creates a strong barrier against external moisture.

Size and fit

The Lowa Nabucco Evo GTX is a mid-top hiker that has a lace-up closure extending towards the ankle. This gives the wearer a customized fit whenever needed. Also, the leather upper adapts to the shape of the foot after some breaking in.

Vibram’s Arctic Grip outsole features multidirectional lugs that are deep enough to create a solid grip on deep snow. Vibram claims that it’s their most advanced technology to date. The sole is made entirely of Icetrek rubber and doesn’t contain any metal components or inserts. Despite its strong grip on icy, slippery trails, this proprietary rubber compound adheres to smooth surfaces and doesn’t cause scratch or abrasion on interior floors.

In addition to the aggressive lugs, this Vibram sole has wide contact areas to the ground and large studs for uphill and downhill traction.

The Nabucco Evo GTX makes use of a special type of midsole that is designed to provide support to the areas that are subject to great stress.

Like other boots from Lowa, this model has a midsole made of polyurethane (PU) which is touted for being highly durable. Compared with EVA, PU is heavier and thicker. It is very resilient as well which means it doesn’t flatten or compress over time.

Lastly, a joint-stabilizing element made of nylon is integrated into the sole to promote stability while walking.

The shoe upper is made of high-quality Nubuck leather and some fabric. Nubuck is the buffed-down version of the full-grain leather. And since the outer layer of the animal skin is used to produce Nubuck, it is usually thicker and more durable than suede.

The shaft of this boot goes ankle-high. The tongue is connected to the sides so it doesn’t go out of place during movement. Additionally, the lacing system goes all the way up to the ankle for easy adjustment of the fit.

Inside the boot is the Partalena Gore-tex lining. Aside from protecting the foot from rain and water, it also provides warmth and comfort in freezing temps. That’s because this type of Gore-tex lining is made of a combination of wool and polyester.
