Updates to Salomon Ellipse Winter GTX

  • Made for the colder months of the year, the Salomon Ellipse Winter GTX is equipped with components that provide weather protection, warmth, and grip on the trail. It comes with Gore-Tex Insulated Comfort that works to keep the boot waterproof and breathable while providing insulation under wintry weather conditions.
  • Salomon also used its proprietary Winter Contagrip rubber outsole for this model. This technology is known for granting grip on icy conditions.

Size and fit

Salomon Ellipse Winter GTX is a relatively true-to-size winter hiker made specifically for women. It is built on a women’s specific last. It is offered in standard width and regular lengths. Its traditional front closure allows a snug and secure fit.

Salomon equipped the Ellipse Winter GTX with non-marking Winter Contagrip outsole. This proprietary technology uses different compounds, geometric lug patterns, and the appropriate density to provide sufficient grip on winter conditions. It extends to the front to act as a bumper that shields the toes.

The Ellipse Winter GTX comes with an injected EVA midsole for shock absorption. A textile inlay sole and Die Cut Ortholite sockliner provide cushioning.

The Salomon Ellipse Winter GTX is equipped with leather and water-resistant textile upper. It is lined with Gore-Tex Insulated Comfort membrane, a technology that combines waterproofing and insulation to protect against rain and cold weather. This component comes in a full bootie construction to completely seal out the elements.

Salomon also incorporated a padded gusseted tongue to prevent dirt and debris from getting inside. It has a fuzzy textile lining that gives a comfy in-shoe feel. The padded faux collar that offers a touch of style also works to seal out drafts. It also features a leather toe cap for further protection.

The lace is networked on neon-colored textile loops (in the ankle midfoot areas) and metal hardware (in the section above the ankle). A rear pull tab allows for an easy on and off. A heel foam adds plush comfort.
