Who should buy the Adidas Adizero Ubersonic 2.0

Adidas launched a second generation silhouette under its market-leading Adizero Ubersonic tennis shoe range that’s designed to meet the demands of fearless and quick court players. It is a solid option if you:

  • Need a shoe that is built with a lightweight technology that’s meant to deliver heavyweight performance.
  • Need a shoe that has Primeknit technology and a more forgiving dual-layer stretch mesh for the men’s design and a woven mono-tongue textile for the women’s.
  • Need a shoe that enables tennis athletes to exhibit agility on any court surface without having the need to wear a heavily reinforced pair that weighs a ton.

Durable and supportive base

Adidas utilizes its proprietary Adiwear 6 rubber to provide a durable and supportive base in the Ubersonic 2. It is suitable for any type of tennis court because of its hard-wearing nature and non-marking characteristics. Its high-abrasion components also allow players to enjoy a series of pivots and slides on the court without having to worry about early signs of underfoot wear and tear.

Aggressive and dynamic players can also benefit considerably from the modified herringbone tread pattern. It provides exceptional traction on a variety of court settings, eliminating the need for a second, surface-specific shoe. The close-to-the-ground sole makeup allows wearers to react fast, whether on hard or clay courts.

3D Torsion System

The Ubersonic 2 is affixed with a 3D Torsion System, a thermoplastic arch support planted between the forefoot and the heel that helps support the midfoot. This technology provides extra stability and controls improper flexing in the arch, especially during speedy lateral cuts.

As an added stability feature, this shoe has a Sprintframe midfoot chassis in lightweight built that dispenses support across the base of the foot. It helps lock in the foot, giving confidence to swift players when making direction changes.

Comfortable cushioning

The heel and forefoot are safely padded by the Adiprene technology. The cushioning element in the forefoot helps players achieve a forceful toe-off, while the unit on the rear side offers impact protection during landings.

Primeknit technology

For men, adding more flexibility to the network of interlocked threads seen on the first Ubersonic, the updated iteration for men is covered with Primeknit, a pliable and seamless two-layer mesh bootie that stretches considerably. The mesh upper expands and adapts to the natural movement of the foot, granting a comfy fit. It also eliminates the friction caused by having stiff shoe membranes. This breathable mesh update also dissipates heat and prevents the occurrence of sweaty feet and blisters.

For women, this iteration is fabricated with the Primeknit tech in vibrant patterns. Aside from having a textile fabric that keeps everything on top lightweight, the Ubersonic 2 for women is made with a burrito-looking mono-tongue where one side is detached from the throat. This feature not only wraps the foot for maximum comfort, but also enables users to glide their foot into the shoe unobtrusively.

Supportive and protective

Toe dragging is common during volleys, lateral glides, and serves. To reinforce the high-wear areas on the forefoot of the Ubersonic 2, Adidas integrated an abrasion-resistant Adituff component granting support and stability during series of court matches. The elastic thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) caging on the rear side also reinforces the mesh cover and enhances the shoe’s integrity.
