6 reasons to buy

  • A few players are praising the Under Armour Curry 5’s traction. They are saying that on clean courts, it is just freaking good.
  • Many reviewers observe that the Curry 5’s cushioning has slightly improved. It is more forgiving and offers a little more bounce than the Under Armour Curry 4.
  • These Under Armour basketball shoes fit true to size according to a good number of wearers. They claim that it provides an excellent one-to-one fit and feels like it is made for their feet.
  • Some buyers notice that a lot went into the UA Curry 5’s construction. They declare that the materials feel really nice and comfortable on-feet.
  • Like Kyrie Irving’s fifth Nike sneaker, nearly all players note that these Curry basketball shoes deliver solid lockdown and support.
  • The Under Armour Curry 5 is the best-looking Stephen Curry basketball shoe to date, a small number of buyers declare.

4 reasons not to buy

  • Most reviewers hate playing in the Under Armour Curry 5. There seems to be a design flaw since the shoe’s medial side digs into the arch of the foot, causing terrible blisters.
  • Nearly all testers are unhappy with the Curry 5’s inconsistent traction on dusty floors. Unlike the Curry 6, they claim that wiping is required since the outsole picks up dust like crazy.
  • According to most reviewers, the cushioning setup is just like the Under Armour Curry 4. It is very stiff and does not offer any amount of impact protection.
  • A few testers are warning that these Stephen Curry basketball shoes are not wide-feet friendly. They say that it runs extremely tight at the midfoot and forefoot.

Bottom line

The UA Curry 5 is a slight improvement from its previous iteration. It now sports a surprisingly supportive and stable low-top profile that provides a highly responsive ride. However, its tight fit and possibly faulty design may give you terrible blisters after a hard-fought game.

By now, buyers should know that Stephen’s signature line caters more towards quick and shifty guards. So, unless you are a die-hard fan of the two-time MVP, you can save your hard-earned money and pass on this model.

On March 14, 2018, Under Armour released 314 pairs of Stephen Curry’s latest signature shoe to celebrate his 30th birthday that also coincides with Pi Day.

Focusing on transforming the Curry line, UA designers took to mathematics to craft one of the most groundbreaking Curry silhouettes ever.

The Under Armour Curry 5 takes inspiration from Pi and the ancient Greek problem of squaring the circle. These basketball shoes aim to help Stephen accomplish the impossible on the court. It is one of Under Armour’s most innovative basketball sneakers to date and blurs the lines between aesthetics and functionality.

The squaring the circle theme reverberates throughout the Under Armour Curry 5’s outsole. These basketball shoes feature an overlapping square and circle pattern under the forefoot to give Stephen the traction that he needs as he slashes his way to the basket.

This unique traction pattern maintains complete ground contact to prevent slipping and sliding on the court.

Length and Width. According to most wearers, the Under Armour Curry 5 runs true to size but is extremely tight at the midfoot and forefoot. Wide-footers are advised to stay away from these basketball shoes.

Lockdown. Locking the foot in place are containment areas found in the heel and forefoot lateral wall. These areas enable Stephen to always play on his toes on a nightly basis.

The Under Armour Curry 5 has a knit upper for enhanced comfort and breathability.

In keeping with the squaring the circle theme, the Curry 5 has a circular construction that is designed to frame the foot’s 90-degree angle.

Several Pi-themed elements complete the Under Armour Curry 5’s unique design. The symbol for Pi is found on the knit upper, “3.14.18” is printed on the aglets, and the Pi number sequence can be seen on the outsole.

To commemorate Stephen’s 30th birthday and Pi Day, Under Armour launched the first colorway of the Under Armour Curry 5 aptly called “Pi Day.” Only 314 pairs of the Black/Metallic Gold Curry 5 were made available on March 14, 2018.
