Skechers Meridian Style

Skechers Meridians have a styling that's sporty and clean as seen from the high apex design, engaging lacing system, round laces, and mesh uppers. Meridians rely on beautiful neutral hues to get their point across. The profile is also curvy and infinitely feminine.

Metallic-finished TPU lace panels provide a subtle hint of flash to the solid-toned uppers. They also help transition the eyes from the strong hue of the uppers to the bold white color of the midsoles. Skechers Meridian sneakers have rose red, black/white, and natural colorways available.

Skechers Meridian History

The Meridian model comes from the largest division of the Skechers company—its sneaker line. For Robert Greenberg, CEO and founder of the company, it just means he went full circle.

Before Skechers, Greenberg was designing apparel and footwear for that popular 80s brand, LA Gear, which he also built. The flashy, colorful LA Gear sneakers were so hot in the market that in just eight years of the company, it was already competing with Nike and Reebok in terms of sales. But business went bad in the 90s due to a series of missteps.

By the year 1992, Greenberg was out of LA Gear and building Skechers. Initially, he wanted Skechers to be a sort of distributing company for Doc Martens shoes but he and the DM brand fell out, sued each other, and went their own separate ways—all within a year of their partnership.

Greenberg knew he had to rely on his own products if he meant Skechers to survive. He first made utility cleats and skate shoes that people with a fondness for streetwear quickly snapped up. This venture was successful and later, Skechers added more to its range of products, venturing into sandals, clothing, work shoes, and the sneakers Greenberg was so good at in designing back when he was at the helm of LA Gear.
