Updates to Mizuno Wave Rider 19

  • The upper of the Mizuno Wave Rider 19 was redesigned to deliver an improved fit and added durability. The updates are not readily visible since most of the changes in the upper happened in the inside. The internal linings are thinner and the lasting foam was enhanced. Lastly, the laces are longer and softer.
  • Another update is the cushioning of the shoe. The heel and the forefoot cushioning is slightly softer to deliver great energy rebound and for a resilient foot strike.

Size and fit

The 19th version of the Wave rider is available in standard running shoe length. There is a slight changed in the fit due to the changes in the upper but it still have a snug heel and midfoot with ample of room in the toe box for natural splay, accommodating runners with regular foot measurements. The shoe is available in normal or medium widths.


Outsole

The Wave Rider 19 utilizes the Mizuno’s X10 rubber outsole that offers a durable and enhanced traction. The blown rubber in the forefoot delivers added cushioning, durability and responsiveness. It also uses the Mizuno’s Flex Controller technology that increases flexibility in high-flex areas while reducing weight.


Midsole

The midsole of the Wave Rider 19 uses the notable Mizuno Wave technology that offers a well-cushioned and responsive ride. It also uses the brand’s SmoothRide Engineering that delivers a smooth heel-to-toe transition.

Also, it features the U4icX technology that delivers more cushioning for efficient shock absorption and well-cushioned underfoot feel. This midsole technology is also used in the Wave Rider 22 and in other reliable Mizuno shoes.

Lastly, it uses the full-length Mizuno Intercool ventilation that keeps the foot cool all throughout the run.


Upper

The upper of the Mizuno Wave Rider 19 features the highly breathable Airmesh cover that keeps the foot cool and dry. The stitched overlays in the lateral and medial side deliver a secure fit while the Dynamotion Fit gives optimal fit. Lastly, it has OrthoLite sockliner that is anti-microbial in nature and keeps the foot moisture free.
