The size 10s felt pretty good.
With the looks of a hiking boot—and the grip, support, and waterproof protection to match—along with hefty 400-gram Thinsulate insulation from 3M, they are great options for strapping on a pair of snowshoes in frigid conditions or summiting a local peak.
[T]his waterproof snow boot is intended to tackle winter from all angles.
Despite a couple of flaws, this is a boot that we happily recommend and one that we think you will love for hiking or snowshoeing in the winter.
- Engineered with insulation and waterproofing, the Snowburban II UltraDry is among Vasque’s solutions to the challenges hikers deal with in their winter outings. Compared with its predecessor, this boot has a sleeker overall profile.
- It comes with an all-new outsole called Nordic Rover with ColdHold compound. It has an updated lug geometry. This replaces the previous version’s regular rubber outsole.
- This current model has a higher collar line than its older brother, making it an undoubtedly high-cut hiking gear. In addition, its protective rubber rand now extends all the way to the rear end of the boot.
The Snowburban II UltraDry from Vasque is a high-cut winter hiking boot for men. Its relatively true-to-size fit is targeted at individuals with regular-width feet. It comes in whole and half sizes. As it is crafted on the Perpetuum last, this boot gives users a roomier forefoot. This particular last also grants the boot a straighter alignment—a design favoring flat-footed folks. Its lace-up closure provides a personalized fit
Vasque’s dual-density rubber outsole—the Nordic Rover with ColdHold technology—is what gives wearers surefootedness on icy and snow-covered trails. Its multi-directional lugs are razor-siped to improve its stickiness over cold, wet surfaces. Its front end has a cupped design, giving the boot additional forefoot protection.
This winter hiker gets to protect and cushion the foot from the roughness of the terrain with its molded EVA midsole. It has a considerably sturdy construction to help users maintain their balance on the trail. It comes built with two supportive sub-components: a stabilizer at the heel and a TPU shank around the arch zone.
Providing extra underfoot cushioning is the footgear’s removable dual-density EVA footbed. It has a cupped heel for additional support and perforations at the forefoot for enhanced airflow.
The Snowburban II UltraDry’s over-the-ankle upper is made of 1.8-mm leather coated with polyurethane (PU) for enhanced durability. It has a heel counter made of TPU for extra support and a rubber rand for abrasion protection. The “UltraDry” in its name refers to the Vasque-owned technology that makes this boot sufficiently waterproof. Its 400-gram thermal insulation, on the other hand, is courtesy of 3M’s Thinsulate technology.
A synthetic lace and combination eyelets make up its closure system. A pull loop at the heel and the boot’s rubber heel kick make on and off relatively swift and convenient.
