  • To a small number of reviewers, the outsole squeaks loudly.

Bottom line

Compared to its predecessor, K-Swiss Ultrashort 2 is noticeably lighter with updates in the midsole. Cushioning isn’t an issue from initial try as it allows you to transition from one stance to another, feeling all the plushness underfoot. The support system keeps the foot balanced whether you’re attacking from the baseline or towards the net. In terms of the overall design, this reasonably-priced cushioned trainer is more refined than the equally high-performing original shoe.

K-Swiss Ultrashot 2 takes on the winning formula of the original Ultrashot in a more streamlined, lighter, and comfier package. This second-generation Ultrashot is ideal for competitive players who perform hard and passionately on clay and hard courts.

Cushioning isn’t taken out of the picture and remains to be one of the best-selling points of this Ultrashot. The innovative Surgelite engineering dominates the midsole to modulate repeated impact before these get absorbed by the foot. The lightness of the material is designed to propel the wearer to zoom and glide around the court courageously. It’s jammed with improvements and backed by a durability outsole guarantee.

Rubber components. Built with a high-density Aosta 7.0 rubber outsole, this shoe is equipped to resist abrasion. The molded rubber’s hard-wearing attribute makes it suitable for use on any court surface.

For added durability, the lower sections of the tip of the shoe, medial and lateral sides are wrapped with DragGuard rubber. Such proponent works as an enhanced shield that puts more life to the shoe even through repeated toe dragging and sliding.

Durability guarantee. As an assurance that this shoe will last for a protracted time, it is tagged with an outsole durability guarantee. The warranty lasts for six months from the time of purchase.

The Surgelite technology is incorporated into the EVA (ethylene vinyl acetate) midsole composition for responsiveness. Such a dynamic proponent is created to make the shoe maneuverable, light, and long-lasting. The tech is responsible for minimizing shock during landings, offering comfort to the user.

Material. The DuraWrap X, a polyurethane material, is the crowning spec that’s integrated into the mesh upper. The combination of synthetic and mesh is meant to deliver lateral support and ventilation. Ultrashot 2’s seam-free construction makes its aesthetic clean-looking and straight-forward.

Fit. It maintains the same kind of in-shoe feel and fit as the previous model. Although it’s made with a shorter tongue than the first Ultrashot, this second version grants comfort still. Like most K-Swiss shoes, this one is also assembled with a roomy toe box, which makes the forefoot feeling partly wide especially for narrow-footed wearers.

Comfort. K-Swiss added the Ortholite X-40 inner sole, which is intended to draw off moisture and keep the underfoot ventilated.

  • K-Swiss Ultrashot is one of the modern designs of the brand that’s meant to adapt to the demands of today’s aggressive players.
  • The Surgelite technology is the same engineering concept applied to a retro-modern stability shoe under K-Swiss’ camp, the Aero Court.
