Like any midweight leathers, these boots are best for cooler temps and wet conditions.
A rigid Vibram outsole kept our ankles from buckling on a slope of sliding boulders, while the single-piece leather upper keeps the boot stiff, locking in our ankles more like a mountaineering boot.
Updates to Zamberlan 491 Trackmaster GTX RR
- The Zamberlan 491 Trackmaster GTX RR is a mid-cut boot that’s designed for light hiking. A Gore-Tex Performance Comfort membrane is embedded in its sturdy Italian Perwanger split-leather upper for waterproofing and breathability.
- The boot’s ethylene-vinyl acetate (EVA) midsole provides cushioning and support. Its Vibram StarLite outsole delivers surface traction on challenging terrain.
Zamberlan 491 Trackmaster GTX RR size and fit
The 491 Trackmaster GTX RR is available for men and women in a standard width profile. It comes in a range of whole and half-sizes. The boot generally runs true to size.
This Zamberlan product is built on the brand’s ZBPK last while the women’s version uses the ZLF variant. Both lasts provide a precise fit and customized comfort. Moreover, the footgear’s lace-up closure system permits a personalized lockdown.
Zamberlan’s 491 Trackmaster GTX RR is equipped with a Vibram StarLite outsole. Its surface is filled with an aggressive pattern of multi-directional lugs to render traction on virtually all types of terrain. A heel brake is incorporated into the component for improved control in downhill conditions.
This mid-cut hiking boot uses an EVA midsole for lightweight cushioning and support. Zamberlan’s patented ZCS technology is incorporated into this gear to reduce shock and enhance stability. Its default footbed grants arch support and underfoot comfort.
The Zamberlan 491 Trackmaster GTX RR features a single-piece upper made of Italian Perwanger split-leather. This lightweight material makes the upper resistant to wear and abrasive elements. It’s treated with Hydrobloc technology to repel water. Moreover, a rubber rand reinforces the toe box area to prevent stubbing and improve durability (thus, the RR in its name).
The upper is lined with a Gore-Tex Performance Comfort membrane. Its microporous design blocks the entry of water to keep the user’s foot dry. The liner also allows moisture to pass through, making the upper breathable.
The boot’s padded collar offers comfort and debris protection. It contains a Microtex lining to prevent abrasion to the Achilles and ankles while wicking moisture away. The closure system uses metal eyelets, hooks and a lace for managing the fit.
